✏️    Talk To Yourself 

- this helps me so so so much. I start thinking my languages when I complain about my cats when they’re being annoying.

✏️    Keep Yourself Interested 

- It’s hard work to learn a language. Find ways to keep yourself entertained. Aesthetic notes, fan fiction or buying your favorite books in your language is helpful.

✏️    YOUTUBE 

- this shit is so helpful. look up videos, listen to music, watch stupid challenge videos, it’ll immerse you into the language.

✏️    Pocket Dictionaries

- I have a whole self of german dictionaries (thanks mom), and honestly, it’s so helpful to look through them. Keep them on hand to find words that you don’t know

✏️    Accept Mistakes 

- You’re learning an entirely new way to communicate. Honestly, you’ll make a lot of mistakes. When you accept it, it becomes less traumatizing to mess up

✏️    Change your phone and games

- Ok, I didn’t wanna do this, but I did. The moment I switched my phone to french, oh my god, it was so immersive. I didn’t even know how much time i spent reading on my phone until I switched. I did switch back, and I felt less immersed. So honestly, it helps. I’m an active Minecraft player, so I changed my game to French. Holy fuck did that help.

✏️    Take notes ALL THE TIME

- Find a quote you like? write it down. Find a new word? write it down. Song? WRITE THAT SHIT DOWN.

✏️    Tumblr blogs are helpful

- I follow a les mis blog that posts about the french election in french and honestly, seeing memes and slang in french is so helpful, like yes.

Not all of these will work for you, but they help for me, so I hope that you benefit from this.

hey, here are some little tips I’ve gathered from this last semester of school and the first day of second semester…

+ pack some food, a granola bar, an apple, literally just have food with you always

+ if you are sick, like truly sick, fever, cold, coughing, or just having an overall terrible day, etc., go home, you’ll end up feeling better

+ on the other hand, if your sickness isn’t distracting you and you feel like you can persevere, do it!! you got this!!

+ failing a test is fine you ain’t gonna die

+ sit with your friends, lay on the ground and do nothing whenever you can. 

+ if you go to a big school, don’t care about crying out in public, no one is paying attention to you and crying during school is the worst but go for it

+ when needing to make conversation, just go really into detail about your day or a class and you can make it through and possibly get the other person to continue the conversation

+ kids are gonna be the worst and it sucks

+ lastly but extremely random, a fun activity is try finding where all the old school yearbooks are stored, if you can find them, it’s extremely fun to look through the really old ones if your school still has them!!

Hey everyone! Midterms can be a stressful time for everyone, but here are some of the tips that i have found work best for me when studying. I thought I’d share them :) Wishing you all luck on your midterms!

1. Study Packets

For each class, I try and make sure that I have a packet compiled of all the important content that will be on the midterm. I take notes based on my notes throughout the semester, which helps to 1) remember everything we’ve done and 2) have a less intimidating version of my notes with just important information. Here is an example I made for AP Government.

2. Study Spaces

For each class, i find a specific part of my room to study that subject. This way, my mind can be completely focused on the one topic as opposed to overwhelmed by all of them. I gather all of the materials for that class, and I set them in my room. I then allot about 30 minutes per subject, and rotate around my room.

3. Apps!

Technology can be a distraction, but it can also be a really helpful tool! This is my midterm survival folder with a bunch of useful apps.

a. Google Drive

This is a good app for making study packet documents, sharing documents with classmates, and finding old assignments throughout the year.

b. Meditation

you’re probably really stressed, so every so often, unwind with a little meditation :) remember mental health >>> grades *free alternative: headspace.

c. Forest

This app can make sure you don’t get distracted on your phone and that you stay concentrated for periods of time.

d. Spotify

Listening to music can help you study if you listen to the right music. I personally like listening to soft/classical music when I’m studying so I can still concentrate

e. Quizlet

Online flash cards!! I use this app all the time when midterm studying and it helps a lot. There’s also a new-ish feature called learn, that combines a lot of different parts of the app so you can study effectively and learn the content quickly.

f. Google Calendar

Time management is key, so planning out study sessions is essential in my opinion. Google calendar has really nice formatting, making it easy to make nice plans.

4. Self Care

The most important step is making sure that you are still taking care of yourself. Get sleep, stay hydrated, wash your face, and be positive :). You can do it!
