you're like Donna's wiki, and I looooooove all of your works! can I ask what's your favorite fanfic about her?
Thank you! I enjoy researching about Donna Beneviento and when I find something useful I share it. Moreover, when I received this question I was writing a draft about Donna because I found an analysis by a Japanese artist that I loved.
Anyway, I'm gonna answer the question.
yes, I do have favorite fanfics. I know I'm terrible at saving books on AO3 since I'm still not very good at the website, but I'll recommend some of my favorites.
I think I've done this before, but I'll do it again anyway. So, here I will bring my 5 fav fanfics about her (I'm not ordering them from worst to best, I'm just listing them):
Visiting the Angel of Death by Celezztia is my fav right now. Not because the idea was mine, but because it seems different from what we usually see in fanfiction, I think the idea is well executed. I think the protagonist is good, and even though I don't usually read original characters, this story is so good that even though I don't usually read original characters, it intrigues me. I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter because I'm really enjoying it. Your Heart in a Headlock by Cookiekitten: Well, this is a classic, who doesn't know this fanfic? You might recognize this author more from his other book, which is also very good. I think all Donna fans have read The Lady's Laundry, but I think this fanfic is better because I like a bit of angst and misunderstandings; it's a typical element, but I love it. I love both books, I repeat, but this one is just amazing.
Always, Nodi by Zerogravity1998: This author also has many works about Donna, check them out, but this one is definitely my favorite. I love the main character, and again, I love the misunderstandings. Plus, he also draws pictures, and I love them. He had a drawing of a scene that I really liked.
Simulacrum by skulkr: I love this fanfic, not because of the romance or the relationship, but because it shows a less human side. More horror, which I think is lacking in many fanfics. Obviously, it's not suitable for all audiences or sensitivities. But for me, body horror is terrifying, so being a doll without autonomy must feel atrocious. Being in that position with a crazy woman, because let's remember that Donna is a dangerous lord who takes what she wants from her victims, seems terrifying to me. I see this fanfic as something terrifying, not as a healthy or loving relationship, and as body horror, I think it works in that context.
Phantom of House Beneviento by RanchRacoon: It's another fanfic that creates a kind of alternate universe, which I also think is great if you want a change of perspective or don't want to read the same thing. Plus, it's finished! Yasss
These are all just my opinions, I repeat. I have my quirks when it comes to fanfiction. For example, if it hasn't been updated in years, I don't want to read it because I know I'll be left wanting more. Or if it's about a lot of lords, I won't read it because I'm a lesbian and heterosexual relationships don't interest me. But these are just my subjective tastes. There are other things that deter me from reading, like fanfiction that's only 300 words long (yes, there are fanfics like that). And I don't like that, so my opinion is very subjective. I'm not saying it's wrong, but it's something that doesn't interest me, though I do like that there are differences. Especially because I think there needs to be racial, polygamous, and LGBTQ+ diversity. I haven't read any new fanfiction in a while; I only know of headcanons I like or one-shots from Tumblr, so I can't recommend more of those right now.
