i think it would be really satisfying to have the (sociel media?) fic where the metros boot like the 5 worst bigots from the team instead of shane. it would be even more narratively interesting though if the organization made big moves like this but failed to meaningfully improve the team culture—just enough to scare the homophobes into keeping their bullshit quiet. but they also expect shane to be quiet about his gayness too. the implicit message to him is “look what we did for you! now shut up & be grateful, gayboy.” and because shane is already used to effacing himself to try & fit in, he goes along with this for awhile. but eventually he comes into his full power and chooses himself by choosing ilya and ottawa anyway. 😤
