It is 100% dependent on the breed and build of a dog. A heavier boned dog such as Mastiffs, Rotweilers, even bulldogs will have a different percentage of bone weight to muscle/fat/organ… weight than a slighter boned dog like greyhounds, chihuahuas, or border collie. You can even see difference in bone weight percentages within the same breed just due to breeding and purpose as Euro line working male Doberman will have a higher percentage bone weight: mass than a American Show line Dobe bitch. It all depends on the dog.
And there you have it!
*Just a caveat, and only because this gets repeated often and annoys me- working line dobes are not these big hulky powerhouse roid-rage dogs that you see being touted by some less than ethical “euro” breeders. Those are show line dogs, and overdone show line dogs at that, and usually from east europe. True working line males tend to be more compact and on the smaller end of the standard, and true working line bitches are typically downright teeny.
It’s kind of like comparing American Showline GSDs to West German Showline GSDs and calling the WGSL dogs the working dogs. They’re both show lines.
Truth. Euro show dogs have more bulk to them but Euro work dogs still tend to have a denser bone even though they are a more compact dog simply because of what they are bred to do and the strength they need to have to be absolute bad asses!

In AZ. i haven’t been to the show but that ball python has been posted everywhere in the last few days and the guy has been finally telling people it’s gatorade.
I was just curious if you were more in my neck of the woods. I probably started at it for a good 10 minutes trying to figure out how he was able to produce a red snake and then he finally was willing to tell me.

This is actually not a new morph, but a snake that has been soaked in gatorade.
Don’t ever soak your snakes in gatorade. Gatorade is designed for hardcore athletes that are burning up energy. The amount of sugar in the drink actually causes dehydration to become worse. Not to mention, it’s unnecessary and if you take care of your ball python in the first place, you don’t have to do unnecessary soaks.
what in fuck’s name. to think that they would bring an animal to a show while it was stained with sports drink really shows how callous this person is.
It was for a joke :/ its not really surprising though. Bp breeders are losing it.
Ah yes, a joke that is staining a snake with food dye to pretend it’s a new morph, at an expo, in front of the public. So funny, bp breeder of the year award. Y’know, I wouldn’t care as much if it had been done with something known to be animal safe, like beet juice, but I have no idea if whatever they use to make gatorade red is okay. Plus…the expo environment. To put it bluntly, I have met some people at expos who do not know what they are doing and instead of researching, just do whatever the nearest person behind a booth says. Do not tell these people it’s fine to soak your snake in gatorade until its scales change color. Please do not.
Let me rephrase that- they did it to rehydrate the snake which is a really common occurrence among breeders but they brought it to the show and set the price at $25k marketing it as a new morph as a joke.
One day tumblr will stop changing the blog im trying to post to. Today is not that day.

What’s crackin’?
My bestie is the prettiest girl in all the land!
Hey! So I've been seeing articles about the yellow-bellied sea snake sighting in Oxnard, CA and I'm actually heading down to the area this weekend to visit a friend. I'll most definitely be visiting the beach where the snake was spotted in hopes of snapping a picture of one! I'm a very experienced herper and aware that they are venomous and shouldn't be handled, but I am looking forward to the possibility of sighting one and if I do I'd love to submit a photo to you!
I highly doubt you will see one at all. The one that was recently found was the first to be found in that area in 30+ years, but on the off chance that you do see one I’d love to see a photo!
And of course I suggest being sure to alert the DNR about any sightings as well!
I love very close to the beach where it was seen and found. And close to several of the professional herpers in the area who have been monitoring for them. They have not seen another one, and this was a very rare sighting. The specimen that was found did pass away shortly after being caught and the necropsy showed it to be very ill.
