The rise of androgyny and unisex fashion in the 1970s was apparently responsible for the introduction of a sex marker in passports.
Oh wow so me saying "no government documentation should ever include a gender marker for any reason" has been right all along. For exactly the reason I stated when people were giving me shit for not supporting x markers on documents.

Jules?
Who's gonna tell him? Certainly not himself...
Yet another hypothetical of Au Scourge interactions >:)
Shadows of the Throne belongs to @the-green-lightning ! Go check out their au!! Ghost Jules is such a fun concept, I love how they've written him💚
Tang doing parkour as a kid is probably the most wild it-could-be-canon extrapolation that I've come up with yet.
But like, just look at this!! So graceful, so demure.
~~
And MK trying to do the same thing moments later
~~
Bro definitely has experience in this kind of movement.
Kinda sorta spoilers (further extrapolation that will be used in the fic) below the cut.
Adding on to this. When MK calls the gang together in the middle of the night to tell them about his new mystic monkey power, Tang lists literally only mobility ones when he's guessing what MK got.
"Teleportation?? Cloud Walking?! [gasps] is it flying?!!?!?!"
Hamlet adaptation where Hamlet is a vlogger and all his soliloquies are breakdowns he uploads to YouTube
… I am unironically here for this
this is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life
This is - legitimately - my favourite delivery of Shakespeare I have EVER seen (and I have seen some good-ass productions yo, in the Globe Theatre itself even). Like seriously, even though the words are unchanged, he’s stripped away ALL of the archaic pretense and assumed grandeur of ~presenting the bard~ that makes even the most wildly talented of actors and innovative of productions inherently inaccessible to a modern audience. Like, they’re still great, they can still communicate the message and (some) of the nuance, but they’re still always a step removed from being identifiable to any viewer’s lived experience. They’re still always reciting 15th century poetry. But this guy? This guy is like, screw iambic pentameter, to hell with being precious about the material, HOW WOULD AN ACTUAL PERSON SAY THIS SHIT?
Like this. And it’s beautiful. It’s beautiful to hear a soliloquy I loved so much already, and have it come to life in a way it never, ever, did before. I feel like I grasp his motivations, his twists and turns, no longer on an academic level but on a visceral, instinctive one. Because he’s presenting his mental and emotional journey in a way that speaks honestly, like a real person.
So yeah, this shit post? I love it. Deeply and sincerely.
A post about this went round recently, and I’m delighted to announce she’s since come out as trans and goes by Jasmine 🏳️⚧️

Next up someone is going to claim that the Narnia series isn't kids books.
Kids books is probably not the best way to word it, you can enjoy them at every age, including your childhood, as you get older you may find new truths in them, but they're still good for any age.
I want you to understand this. I NEED you to understand this. My mother read me the hobbit as bedtime story, and I started pushing myself to read before pre-school so I could in fact read the hobbit for myself instead of having to wait for bedtime.
I didn't do so right away but jesus wept I PUSHED myself to learn to read SPECIFICALLY so I could read The Hobbit! It is, in fact, a children's story! And children only see page count as 'there is a lot of this fun story to read!'
The Hobbit, and ultimately Lord of the Rings and all the rest of his works in Middle-Earth, were all quite literally all based on bedtime stories that Tolkien made up for his children. It was all originally meant for children.
OP: How to walk butterflies just like walking dogs (cr半亩甜园,农民老杨)
Hey guys. If I ever disappear from this website it was because I was carried away by butterflies, okay?
From what I can tell from a bit of research (read: googling it) this is legit. I’m going to go up into the mountains or something and test it.
It’s a traditional Asian trick called “Yentiabang” or “butterfly fishing”, and it works because those are all horny males trying to mate with that fluttering piece of paper.
Urg, I wish there were more scientific papers on stuff like this. (Or at least readily accessible). Wikipedia doesn't even have this behavior documented! 😩 Best way to actually find any information is looking up "butterfly attracting stick" as there are a few documented videos and toys.
If those Butterfly swarms have females in them, it would make their behavior that much more interesting. 🦋
ALSO DO NOT LOOK UP "Yentiabang". In Chinese it's meaning translates to pornographic material.
today I learned that in 2008, the city council of florence overturned dante’s sentence of execution if he returned from exile. yes, dante’s inferno dante, who died in 1321.
but the funniest part of this is not that they were debating the exile of a man who has been dead for over 500 years.
the funniest part is that the vote was 19-5. five people voted to uphold dante’s exile.
The objectively funniest part of this is actually that the city that holds his remains, Ravenna, refused to give his remains back. This was a ploy from florence to have his remains moved back for the tourist money and its been ongoing for a long time. Florence had a fake tomb built in the city to trick people into visiting, and have tried to force the return of the remains.
His actual caretakers have been very steadfast in keeping them hidden, moved, or generally out of reach to respect his choice in life to never, ever, ever return to florence, even when he was first offered the chance to return. This is at this point an almost millenium long feud that florence is really, really mad about losing
so basically the five people who wanted to uphold his exile were in the right
ive been trying to make a princess tutu au/crossover work for a loooooong time. most of these were drawn last year, there were other things i wanted to include but i ran out of steam. thought it was about time i shared it anyway though!
Genuinely, one of the measures that's stopped book banning the most when districts implement it, is having the would-be banners fill out a form that demonstrates if they've read the book or not. Like where they have the summarize the plot and characters and do a mini book report and give a review. It stops them in their tracks. This is why in my high school, every time someone wanted to ban a book it ended up going nowhere. There was one where a conservative student wanted to ban the manga "Legal Drug" for having a marijuana leaf on the cover, then got the form that required them to actually read and either balked, or read it and realized it was not pro-drug at all. (The other one that reduces book bans even further is "requiring the would-be banner to be affiliated with this actual school in some way, either by being a student, faculty/staff or a parent of a child at the school" because the vast majority of bans are "activists" with no affiliation with the school who just travel around trying to do this in districts all over the U.S. IIRC a few years ago someone crunched the numbers and just 51 parents were responsible for all the book bans that year nationally. 51! In a country with 50 states, with over 300 million people total!)
Laws like this indeed do a lot to stop fascist book censorship. They can also help legally protect librarians from getting fired or harassed for keeping books on the shelves! Some states like Rhode Island have already passed these laws. If you're in a blue state, look up whether you have laws like this on the books. MAYBE your state is trying to get one passed right now, like New York's Freedom to Read bill. call your state elected officials to voice support for it.

“This is a tapestry I made myself! I just finished it!”
“…. this is…. big.”
“Eighty feet long, ten high, in forty panels! It was originally going to be sixty feet, but then the Thomas Malory Arthuriana got big and I had to put more stuff in.”
“… Malory published in the fifteenth century.”
“Do you have any idea how long it takes one person to embroider eight thousand square feet of tapestry?”
“You’ve had a lot of free time in the last eight hundred years, haven’t you?”
“Not once I took up embroidery as a hobby, no!”
“Want to see my stalagmite cultivation work?”
