βIt just means you have to work double as hard as most people!β
Well maybe I donβt WANT to work double as hard as abled people!! Maybe I deserve a BREAK!! Maybe Iβve been working MORE THAN double as hard for MY WHOLE LIFE and itβs led me to immense burnout & caused me to develop several MORE disabilities!! Maybe I should be ACCOMMODATED so I donβt have to KILL MY BODY AND BRAIN over trying to do what abled people can do!! Maybe I DONβT have to work double as hard!! Maybe if thereβs the option to let me NOT work double as hard, I should have it, because Iβm already working double as hard JUST TO SURVIVE!!
Why do you think disabled people deserve less rest than mentally & physically abled people?

I heavily recommend getting very good at spotting Meta glasses. Like I'm talking so good all you need is a glance. Otherwise, I would go about public life bearing in mind that more and more people are wearing expensive camera glasses that can record you without you realizing.
Learn how to identify smart glasses through visual cues, behavioral patterns, and recording indicators. Handle privacy concerns with this pr
Ready or not, the smart glasses future is upon us.
With smart glasses, there are concerns around being recorded. Fortunately, you can watch for indicator lights and certain movements as a way
Here are some basic primers. If someone is wearing what look like Meta glasses, they usually have a small circular camera in the outer corners of the lenses, like the one on your phone.
I would also regularly check their own product pages so you're on top of what the models look like. They tend to have larger frames, but come in a variety of shapes and colors.
Shop every style. Every color. Prices from $299 to $499. Browse Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta AI glasses and sunglasses to find your pair.
The creator of Nearby Glasses made the app after reading 404 Media's coverage of how people are using Meta's Ray-Bans smartglasses to film p
A new hobbyist developed app warns if people nearby may be wearing smart glasses, such as Metaβs Ray-Ban glasses, which stalkers and harassers have repeatedly used to film people without their knowledge or consent. The app scans for smart glassesβ distinctive Bluetooth signatures and sends a push alert if it detects a potential pair of glasses in the local area.
The app comes as companies such as Meta continue to add AI-powered features to their glasses. Earlier this monthΒ The New York Times reported Meta was working on adding facial recognition to its smart glasses. βName Tag,β as the feature is called, would let smart glasses wearers identify people and get information about them from Meta's AI assistant, the report said.
I am against Meta and everything they stand for but Iβm curious if peoplesβ opinions would change about someone wearing them as a disability aid?
Not necessarily, because Meta has military contracts (source 1, source 2, source 3), is testing surveillance tech on their own employees and their customers (source 4, source 5), and there are at least two class action lawsuits against them for privacy violations (source 6, source 7, source 8). There is also some sketchy stuff about workers being forced to review material, which may or may not be used without the customer's permission, that is sensitive, graphic, and/or pornographic (source 9).
The American Foundation for the Blind has said that "The Ray-Ban Meta glasses are an accessibility tool only by coincidence. That makes them more affordable and, in many ways, unaware of the needs of users with reduced vision" although they do have seemingly positive views on Meta Glasses as a whole. (source 10). It also seems like their marketing push as accessibility devices began last year (source 11).
But to add even more into the nonsense, Meta is now toying around with adding a "limit" to the functionality of their glasses unless their users pay for more access (source 12). AND, as stated above, Meta has officially added facial recognition code in their glasses and only admitted it after being called out, which is basically the death of privacy as we know it (source 13, source 14, source 15). And oh look another lawsuit because of it (source 16) THAT THEY LOST (source 17)!
Long story short: I don't begrudge someone using them as a disability aid overall, but ultimately both their privacy and other people's privacy are being disregarded by Meta and that is not and should not be acceptable by any means.
I understand there is no ethical consumption under capitalism but there is a level of personal responsibility someone has to take when using them if they truly truly need them, such as opting out of sharing information, not filming strangers without permission, not posting footage of strangers online, opting out of facial recognition if possible, etc.
Disabled people deserve assistive technology AND privacy rights, and Meta is not the solution.
No I've been saying this forever and no one's been listening!
Spongebob doesn't flinch at his own queerness. He dresses in drag, he doesn't mind pronoun misusage, he doesn't care that his friendships come off to others as unconventional. He knows who he is. which is an asexual (canon by both Stephen Hillenburg AND Nickelodeon) sponge. He's openly fluid in his expression and is full of a love and hope that has been crushed out of Squidward a long time ago. Squidward is bitter from his past situationships with people like Squilliam and his only outlet for personal expression is through his art and music which people respond to with abject hatred and disgust, and because it is so personal to him, in fact it IS HIM because he is the subject of his artistic serial form is his literal face, the people are thus rejecting him personally.
Squidward secretly likes Spongebob, not because he's attracted to him but because he represents that sappy doe eyed queer twentysomething that Squidward used to be, and outwardly resents Spongebob because of how readily he's accepted by the community. What Squidward can't or flatly refuses to accept is that the town would be willing to accept him as well if he ever did come out of the closet but he's weighed down in his own bitterness and loathing both towards himself and others. The times where he creates art that speaks to others or when he plays the clarinet well in the show are all instances where his facade slips and he loses his inhibitions either through violent anger or when he feels genuine confidence rather than forcing it into his work. He CAN make beautiful art and he CAN play the clarinet but he choses to shoot himself in the foot in a self fufilling prophecy of miserable failure because ultimately he believes he is a failure and that he deserves his misery.
He works a dead end job suffering from a bad case of twink death and dreams of fame because he's convinced that fame is the only way he's going to get acceptance from the people of Bikini Bottom and his deep unhappiness can only be shed through self acceptance. It may have been different for Squidward back in the day, but Bikini Bottom is ready for him and is waiting for the day when he finally says "I'm ready."
While I 100% agree that there are a lot of rappers who have misogynistic lyrics, it always feels deeply disingenuous when white/nonblack people call it out as a means of defense for talking shit about it as a genre while still slutshaming female rappers for rapping about sex. On top of that, they'll say stuff like "oh yeah I prefer rock/pop punk/heavy metal" as though rock musicians and their fans have historically been accepting of women in the scene, and have always made it a safe space for women *looks at Tina Bell, Hayley Williams, and the women involved in the Riot/Sista Grrrl movement who literally formed those movements in response to the white men who made them feel unsafe*. I guess misogyny is only okay when white men are the ones spewing it.
I have this idea for a video game called Are You Out There? where two players control two different alien civilizations and the goal of the game is to invent spaceflight and then manage to find one another in a ginormous universe. You can try to leave signs for each other to find, or send out probes and radio waves, or colonize many systems so you're a bigger target, but its hard because the universe is really big.
Idk just a thought.

in law school, my mom took me to this stress retreat because my family was vaguely aware i was a suicide risk. and they didnt allow phones, so i brought this huge bag of books. and one of the options for "destressing" was this fake cave grotto thing, where they'd decorated a room to make it look exactly like an underground cave and the air was like -10 degrees, but there was a like 4ft deep pool in the middle that was kept super super hot, so you would just switch between the hot and cold. and they would bring you an endless supply of this weird syrupy drink thing that was like super caffeinated and tasted like sugar and mint. and so i spent multiple days sitting half submerged in this fake grotto drinking mystery liquid and reading. and i have to be honest i really did feel less stressed
