What if the whole Mako-Assami-Korra drama wasn't been well solved? It would be just like...
Mako's new gf: So, you are friends with the Avatar? That's amazing! Can you introduce us?

Mako: ...it would be a little awkward...to me. You see, she is dating my ex girlfriend.

Theory: Sokka can't write.
And now, i guess you're all wondering what the hell i'm talking about. Isn't Sokka the genius of the Gaang? Isn't he the guy who wanted to go "To tHe LiBRarY!" as vacation?
Well, yes, buuuut, we have some clues that he actually can't write that good.
First of all, the first thing that make me question his writing abilities:
His left note to Katara. Look how she is holding it. It suggests that it's all irregular and messed up. Besides, he writes: "need meat, gone fishing. Back in a few days". I mean, sounds like someone who doesn't know much words in this idiome. In a contrast with what Zuko writes right after, well constructed sentences and all.
Keeping it, the submarine project he does. The mechanic said it was hard to understand his drawing, i wonder myself: he could've written. But he chooses to draw, because he couldn't write that good to give clear instructions. In fact, he always choose drawing instead of writing.
Also we had the iconic Appa posters, he was the responsible for them. But why didn't he wrote anything, like "lost bison"? Because he couldn't!
Also when he was training with Piandao.
He choose painting his face than writing. Because he has struggles with this.
But, why?
Well, lets get a look at the kids from the SWT:
Doesn't seems like they were going to some school, or even learning something, besides war. What make perfect sense that none of them could write or read.
But yet, Sokka was able to write some words and even read. I suppose that, as son of the chief, he had the amazing and unique chance of starting to learn writing with his father, but after he lefts, Sokka has to stop his learning.
So, here it's my conclusion: Sokka had the writing ability of a child. Maybe his reading was better, but he had several dificults with writing, wich he was improving along the story.
And i guess it's just another point to the show, that shows us that being able to do this (writing and reading) doesn't make you better or worse than anyone, and the lack of this doesn't lack your capacity of being a great man (or woman).
Ok everyone, listen me out. We all talk about how much Sokka loves Suki even when she is without make up but i think there's something we're letting out.
From the very first time they meet, Sokka leave the village already worried about the Kyoshi Warriors having to take this problem alone, but when he backs there, and Oyagi says Suki left to war, he is not sad because he won't be able to see her. He is sad because he thinks he puts her in danger. He knows how the front line is like, and he knows what happens to brave girls in the front line. According to his experience, they die (and that's rough, buddy).
So, he was thinking she would be dead, or damaged, but when Sokka sees her safe and sound, he can't even believe in his eyes and is happy as hell. "Damm! This girl is just amazing!"
And when Azula tells him abou Suki, he didn't cry because the princess said Suki gave up on him. He cries because HE gives up on Suki. "Obviously, if Azula was wearing the Kyoshi Warriors outfit, they must be in danger! How could i didn't remember this??"
He cries because once again he let someone he loves in danger. And he didn't even do nothing to try rescue or save her. And, the perfectionists we know he is, he must been feeling a failure.
"I promise myself this wouldn't ever heappen again, but once again i failure, and couldn't protect my love...."
Ok, i just can't....
