Ok! Time for more ATLA Book 3 thoughts, this time for Ep 4! :
the posts for eps 5 and 6 are also up! i really want to dedicate a separate post for each of these three eps (because hoooo boy) and i'll link them below
A Sokka centred episode! One thing I love about atla is that it's quite good at mapping out and addressing the beats of all its main characters as they develop over the course of the show. One day I really wanna sit down and map out an episode/season-wise chart for the main characters.
Piandao is that one cool teacher that makes you want to hang around after class and chat with them and makes you feel genuinely enthusiastic about the subject <3
Sokka's "I LOVE WHAT I'M WITNESSING AND LEARNING SO MUCH" face is adorable, and I totally get the feeling:
4. A sword!! Out of a meteorite!!! Oooo very Blue Eye Samurai (can't wait to see it in action)
5. The gaang all love and care for each other so much ToT The way they reassure Sokka, help him out and encourage him, are ready to assist when they think things have gone awry but stand down when he says so...AAAAAGHJGHGHHG (Awwww look at you, Toph, pretending like you don't care~)
6. SOKKA APPRECIATION YESSSS
7. THE FINAL FIGHT/TEST WAS SO COOL! I love how you could tell Piandao wasn't maliciously attacking, because he kept pointing out and praising Sokka's various maneuvers and giving him tips ajhkjhjfjgjjsdf
8. I feel like the things Piandao taught Sokka will come back as things he remembers during a later fight, and I really hope Piandao himself returns.
9. White lotus pai sho tile...? Huh??
10. "Guess the jokes don't run in the family 😒"
P.S. That poor fly that Aang blasted away with air lmaooo😭
