EDIT: I am told that the sketch I was thinking about is a parody of Newhart and so was WWDITS! I haven't seen that show's last episode, so I don't know which version theirs was more like. But it makes it feel even less original, and I am somehow even more irritated.

I guess I don’t understand the complaint about it not being original when all three scenes were pastiches of well known endings. (The Usual Suspects, Rosemary’s Baby, Newhart)

If it makes you feel better, those (which I did recognize) didn't do much for me either. But at least they didn't feel like a jab at the fans.

I didn’t feel jabbed at. I got a scenario where my ship was recognized, which felt like it wasn’t going to happen after Paul Simms spent so much time the past couple years trying to backtrack it, and as a classic sitcom fan, I thought it was done in a delightful way (give me all the innkeeping AUs now!). And we got an open ending with a lot of Nandermo potential to it.
