hey, i'm that last anon. i actually hate-read your blog because i initially thought you were someone who gravely wronged me on a gundam rp forum in 2012 (abused the trust i put in char roleplayers to commit credit card fraud) the first time i saw your blog. i eventually learned you had to be someone else but tbh the distaste just stuck with me and now i compulsively get mad at everything you post

actually I think if you tell (non-climate-denying) people who complain about the heat that it's just gonna get worse forever now that you ARE being an arsehole and that's not helpful at all. cos they fucking know. we fucking know. what does that help. if you want to redirect conversations about extreme weather into climate action have you considered something like "god I know right? that's why I'm doing XYZ* to see if I can improve things locally so it doesn't get worse, want to join me?"

"want to help us plant more trees around the city to improve passive cooling and urban resilience, and be part of a group that's actually doing something so you feel less powerless and despairing, and might develop the skills and contacts and interests to start lobbying for greater change" is infinitely more useful than "this is as good as it's gonna get, so just despair and buy aircon and get angry about how the government keeps selling our lives to tech companies for profit rather than stick to their net zero pledges" like

we have examples that we can correct problems we've caused! the hole in the ozone layer WAS a big problem but now it's closing up because we collectively banned the chemicals that were causing it! there's measurably less garbage in the pacific because someone said "hey what if we go out in a boat and remove garbage from the ocean"!
