Autism got my Google calendar bringing up conflicts that aren’t relevant for another 500 years
why every time I find a cool blog they have to start being woke and having pronouns?

I’m so proud of people living with chronic health conditions. That shit is HARD. Idk who needs to hear this, but if no one else has said it: I’m proud of you. You’re sticking it out through so much pain and grief. That’s no small feat.
Every small thing you do for yourself health adds up. The grief is heavy and it comes from a place of love. The grief knows the pain is wronging you.
I’m proud of you. I hope on the good days you can be proud of yourself.
Keep going.

OH MY GOD. I DID IT. I ACTUALLY DID IT.
The sky, gong, and most of the mountains are colors from Terrafibres on etsy!! Specifically Vulcan’s Forge, Shran, Tulaberry, and Imzadi. 😁
I took a great many artistic liberties lol but I’m SO happy!! I actually did it!!
if you want to actually start to end homelessness, you need to give homeless people unconditional homes, including when we use them to do drugs or sit around drinking. either housing is unconditional or it isn’t
someone sitting at home alone, an active alcoholic, squandering your charity, drinking all day is better situation than a street homeless alcoholic. someone using drugs in your charity house is better than them doing the same w no shelter
most of you would not like most street homeless people, I definitely don’t and didn’t when I was street homeless. for every one person who uses unconditional shelter to turn themselves around, someone else will do jack shit and very slowly, if ever, work through the issues that made them homeless, will maybe never be able to live independently. still better than street homelessness, still worth doing. ultimately either you believe that shelter should be universal or you don’t
homeless people actually can’t be rehabilitated if you want to end homelessness. we either affirm the right to shelter for the worst drunken, lying, filthy, cheating, self destructive homeless people that exist, genuinely irredeemable wankers, or we concede that shelter is not a right
This post is the distilled essence of everything I believe in.
I don’t care how horrible a homeless person is. I don’t care if they have zero ambition and want to just use drugs for the rest of their lives. I don’t care if they’re the biggest asshole you’ll ever meet. I don’t care what crimes they’ve committed. They’re still a better use of our tax money than bombs. They’re still more deserving than billionaires.
Had my autism assessment yesterday and the interviewer asked “were you ever bullied?”
And I said “no, I had some shitty people in high school that were mean sometimes but not bullied.”
And my partner, who was helping me out said “honey that’s bullying. You don’t have to be held upside down and shaken for it to be bullying”
So that was a fun revelation. Idk I always thought bullying was more targeted, like one bully hates one person and takes it out on them, it didn’t even occur to me that because this person was bullying multiple people that it was bullying??
Anyway I think I passed my autism test

Fun fact about V- in the original source material we don't know V’s ethnicity, religion, or sexuality. We only know that he's male, he escaped from a concentration camp, and that he’s a part of one of the targeted groups.
Huh, I didn’t know that
I think most people assume that V is a straight white male, but he could be black, Muslim, Jewish, gay, or a beatnik. We really don't know.
I think a lot of people, myself included, were introduced to it through Hugo Weaving. Amazing actor, and is a straight white male, but the fact that they didn’t show his face was deliberate yk
(Also to the person who came here from a BTS post, I guess there’s nothing stopping V from also being Korean. Bighit have the chance for the funniest casting choice in the remake)
have you ever had such a bad experience with how you were treated at your local hospital's emergency room(/your country's equivalent, like A&E in the UK) that you would literally rather not seek emergency treatment, or travel to a different emergency room that's further away, than go back to your local one unless you had no choice*?
yeah I had a bad experience
nah my treatment was fine/good
never been to a hospital's emergency department
nuance/it was complicated
Results
(*for example you or someone you know needs treatment right now immediately so the bad one is the only option. feel free to vote yes even if you've moved since your bad experience and the hospital you have access to now is better!)
I'm usamerican so my experience is within the US health system, but ohhhh my god the ER in my town is awful. Whether the nurses and doctors are rude or not is hit or miss (some are super friendly, others will ask you rapid fire questions and expect you to keep up even when you're in distress and try to tell you that a pulse of 52 is "within normal range" - I'm not Lance Armstrong bro??? I'm here cause I randomly passed out cause I couldn't breathe, hello???). I've read that they're also Highly Encouraged to not spend a lot of time on one patient and to discharge ASAP, and I believe it - one time my mom went in because her blood sugar was extremely high, and as the nurse was discharging her she was like "well just come back if it gets above 300 again" like it wasn't actively still above 300 (still high enough to be in the ER). I had to go in the other day for what turned out to be a bad case of diverticulitis + resulting infection and they really should have kept me overnight, but I got sent home that afternoon even though I was in severe pain and halfway to passing out from low blood pressure on the wheelchair ride out to the taxi, like these people cannot WAIT to get rid of you. I've heard even worse stories from other people too, some who've almost died bc of this ER's BS. I think it has more to do with how Questionably things are run and the shortage of quality doctors/nurses here than anything, but holy stars. Next time, unless I'm in a situation where I might die in the next 20mins, I'm going to the hospital in the next town over...
(...I guess this is half a vent post and half a genuine poll lol but I am curious how common/uncommon this is, esp outside the US. Thanks for hosting, Mod H! And thanks to anyone who read this far, hopefully by the time this gets posted I'll be feeling a lot better and less annoyed about this whole thing lol)
The hospital I had a bad experience with as a kid, I have an elderly relative who said to drive him to a further hospital as long as it’s not that one if it kills him if he has a medical emergency
I had a sharp spinal pain a couple years back and went for a back/chest x-ray at my local A&E (who had been fine before this!) and they got me into the gown and sat me in the waiting area and just forgot me for like 4 hours?? I was there with my partner for about 3 hours in triage at A&E before being sat and then in the waiting room for ages.
People kept walking past us and the person behind the desk even chatted to us and then at like 3am she went “wait have you had your scan yet??”
And I’m like no???
I am so grateful for the NHS and am a full believer in re-funding it, but oh my god my back hurt and I would have paid to have it scanned within an hour 🫶
After his incredible UFO encounter, Gorbin is thrilled to be taking his story to the masses. After calling in to the local news, Gorbin is swiftly upgraded to a national segment, but that’s when things get really strange.
The producers are asking Gorbin to wear an ultra-realistic silicone mask, telling him it will make his story more credible if he looks like an old guy. But when the neck of this mask is exposed on live TV, does it hurt or harm Gorbin’s very real story? As the conspiracy gets deeper, Gorbin doesn’t know what to think.
Clarity comes when the handsome sentient mask comes to apologize, prompting a journey even farther into the unknown… and the erotic.
This erotic tale is 4,300 words of sizzling human on gay mask action, including anal, blowjobs, rough sex, and ultra-realistic silicone disguise love.

please enjoy brand new tingler POUNDED BY THE ULTRA REALISTIC MASK THAT I WORE ON THE NEWS BUT IT DIDN’T QUITE FIT RIGHT SO YOU COULD SEE THE EDGE POPPING OUT AT MY NECKLINE out now here or on patreon
When I’m writing or drawing, I am going around in circles being a perfectionist, wondering if people will take my work seriously and if I’m putting out anything of value, and then I’m reminded that one of the great minds of our century releases books like “POUNDED BY THE ULTRA REALISTIC MASK THAT I WORE ON THE NEWS BUT IT DIDN’T QUITE FIT RIGHT SO YOU COULD SEE THE EDGE POPPING OUT AT MY NECKLINE” and I genuinely really enjoy it and a remember that people come to stories for entertainment as well as prose.
Could I spend 10 years fact checking? Yes. Do I need to? No! (Did I take a 12-week history course to aid me in researching for a novel that I’ve been writing for over 3 years now? Yes 👏)
I think Chuck’s books remind me that writing can be fun and silly and still be put out there instead of buried. I’ve always loved books like “Pride and Prejudice Except Mr Darcy is a Vape God”, because it’s creative and it’s fun even if it is simple.
Some of my favourite stories have been fan works or parodies and don’t need to take themselves seriously.
(Chuck can do such a range and this is not a post aimed at diminishing Chuck Tingle’s fantastic work, it’s about me not taking myself too seriously!! (I love you Chuck))

I’ve been away from home and in Poland for 10 days now. I miss my cats :((
Do not ever be rude or condescending to someone who asks "obvious" questions, no matter how obvious or silly you think the question is.
For one, in some cultures asking an obvious question is just a polite way of acknowledging the situation. So for example, if you just put your jacket on and start clocking out, a co-worker asking "oh, you done for the day and heading out now?" doesn't deserve you sneering at them like an idiot, scoffing, and saying "uh duh, just like I do every day at this time" when it's likely they knew the answer, but were just asking as a polite way of acknowledging the situation.
But even if they were genuinely unsure that you're leaving even though it seems obvious to you from context clues, so what? What does being rude and condescending to them achieve? Maybe they couldn't sleep last night so they're really out of it today, maybe they're dissociating, maybe they're about to pass out from low blood sugar, maybe some other employees sometimes put on their jacket and only clock out briefly but come back.
There's all sorts of reasons they could be confused about whether or not you're leaving, but intentionally making them feel bad achieves nothing except, well, making them feel bad. Either way, they're not hurting you or anyone by asking a "stupid" question, so there's no point in being rude about it. If you still want to make them feel bad about themselves for looking "stupid" when they weren't hurting anyone, that is the mindset of bullies and abusers.
Thank you everyone who is pointing out in the notes that this is usually an attempt to connect with someone and/or strike up a conversation. Because honestly in my experience 9 times out of 10 when someone asks an "obvious" question that's what they're trying to do. If someone walks into the kitchen and asks "oh are you cooking?" while you're standing over the stove holding a spatula, they probably already know the answer, but they're just trying to start a conversation with you and connect to you.
All the more reason it's sad and hurtful when these attempts are met with sneering and being treated like an idiot.
There are no stupid questions, only assholes providing snarky non-answers. Because aside from the bid for connection or genuine confusion, sometimes there are REASONS why you might get an obvious question.
“Oh, are you cooking?” asks person who thought you were going out tonight.
“Are you leaving?” asks time-blind person who’s surprised it’s 5:00.
“Are you going to lunch?” asks person who remembers there’s a meeting in 30 minutes.
This is where I make my occasional reminder that Emily Post said the reason for manners is to make others comfortable and foster kind, thoughtful human interactions.
“Oh, are you cooking?”
asks person who thought you were
going out tonight.
