This is the new flag, the old one was more vivid and in a z shape, but it's been made more neutral to be inclusive of people with seizures or sensory issues.

Each stripe represents a different aspect of disability:

Red: Physical disabilities

Yellow: Cognitive & intellectual disabilities

White: (And this is the key one I think) Invisible AND undiagnosed disabilities

Blue: Mental illnesses

Green: Sensory disabilities

its for the people who have experienced violence too, because of their disability. who were never palatable to abled society and were harmed or killed for it even.

It’s pride month and I don’t have a queer mentor, it’s pride month and I don’t see my elders at the parades, it’s pride month and I don’t hear the wisdom, it’s pride month and theirs no queer boomers to drown out the noise of my homophobic elders.

They have all passed away, and we have allowed them to be forgotten, to be pieces of the past lost to time, to be seen like the christian right wanted them to be seen as a human being dismembered by “sin” to the point that they’re human no longer.

We have long look down upon our queer ancestors for their “grievous sexual conduct” for perpetuating a disease with such a high fatality rate. It’s easy to blame the victims when you have the advantage of foresight, they didn’t have that privilege.

remember, the first Pride was a riot, and she was one of the brave souls who endured it to help carve the path which so many of us walk today. she helped found several activist groups regarding LGBT safety and wellbeing. and she was absolutely radiant, too.

Sadly, a few people out there need a reminder that pride month was started by Black trans women resisting arrest for being themselves.

Your right to march and not have to hide or riot so that you can be queer without being arrested? Brought to you by them. And everyone else who worked with them.

The Stonewall Inn was a threat to society because they accepted People of Colour, homeless queer youth, transgender people, disabled people and all variations there in.

Pride was built off the pain, blood, resistance, love and hope of marginalised people.

So let's make this very, very clear for a few of you who still do not get it. Inclusivity matters.

If you cannot welcome People of Colour at Pride? You do not belong there.

If you cannot welcome homeless people-- especially the youth who have no safe place to go-- at Pride? You don't belong there.

If you cannot welcome transgender people in Pride? Trans women, trans men, non-binary people, agender people, and people who don't conform to any definition. You don't belong there.

If you cannot welcome disabled people of all kinds at Pride? You don't belong there.

And here's the most important part of all of this:

*Pride month must be every day.

Everything I've said here absolutely counts for June. But it also counts for every day in July, August, September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April, and May.

And if you cannot? If you cannot give space for us, you are the one who doesn't belong at Pride. And you don't belong in the Queer community until you can.
