I am many things I collect labels like I collect information about the current state of our crumbling world so here goes: I am lesbian, demi aro/ace, christian, disabled, depressed, medicated, liberal, too political for my own good, i will always be reading political science, poet (long beach youth poet laureate ambassador!), um I like AIDS too much, men should all be eradicated because bone marrow and they’re obnoxious

Pride month is over but our communities still need to be lifted up. Just because the big box stores have fulfilled their agendas so they don’t get boycotted and the influencers and politicians have said “happy pride month” doesn’t mean we’re not still being oppressed. Especially trans people, we all need to keep being visible and speaking out even when it feels like the world has decided it’s time to be silent until next year. We have a long ways to go, and we need to keep fighting!

I went to the zoo and had the most epic special interest moment of my life!!!! I SAW A TIGER ROAR!! Afbksnslzjlaf now it wasn’t my favorite type of tiger (sumantran) but it was soo amazing!!!!! Now I just need to meet Rand Paul to fulfill my current special interest! or Robert Garcia!

I hate to say it (not really) but powerful men are all the same, no morals, they sacrificed them a long time ago, willing to treat people whatever which way just because they can.

I picked up this book at a thrift store and right off the bat without even opening the book I can tell that it will reinforce societal standards that permeate politics and create further polarization. By including the (If You Must) it encourages conservatives specifically (as that is the target audience of the book (and that is not to say liberals don’t do the same or similar things)) to not have dialogue with people of different political ideologies and the less you talk to them the more you can begin to see them as less than human. And the less the other party (in this case liberals) is taken seriously the more drastic measures will be taken with the end goal of being taken seriously. This is how democracies die (also a very good book by Steven Levitsky)

Hot take: I don’t like Mary Oliver’s poetry she’s one of the best selling poets of all time even people who say they “don’t like poetry” like her poems but reading a volume of poetry by her none of them really struck me. There were some where I was nodding my head and like enjoying it but not in a way where I’m recommending it to other people or seeking out her work again. It may be that my style of poetry is more speech less description I just found her poems boring and confusing. :/
