it's ridiculous that we have to scroll down to the "blog settings" and check this box to not get our art stolen by this shit "ai", and if it wasn't for my friend warning me I'd never even known.
I got no notification or update in privacy warning from tumbler... should be also illegal in Europe now right?

Did you know that between 1939 and 1941 the NYC Tax Administration and the Works Progress Administration collaborated to take photographs of nearly every building in all 5 boroughs of New York City? And that you can see these photos today thanks to NYC Municipal archiving? This is, obviously, amazing for hundreds of reasons. For the purposes of this post, it's fantastic because this is a very real address:
And when I put that address into the photo locator map, I get this:
Going from there, we can walk around the surrounding blocks via photographs. And if we assume that Steve and Bucky's pre-war apartment was fairly close to the Barnes', then these photos from 1939 to 1941 are a historically accurate trip to their neighborhood.
So, let's explore some pre-war Brooklyn. For your fic inspiration needs, your feelings, the general Stucky vibes, or just because:
yes I spent the entire morning on this, don’t judge me, gladys

Years ago back when I worked in cubicle land, we were hiring junior software developers. They didn’t have to have a ton of experience, just a willingness to learn, and some demonstration of their software skills. Like: show me a program you wrote (any language) or a web site you designed. Anything.
And there was this one guy I talked with who seemed super sharp, but had virtually zero experience writing software. When it came time to do the show-n-tell part of the interview he whips out his laptop, brings up a website, and spins it around to show me what he made.
A website of tiny ceramic frogs.
Not for sale. Just… all these ceramic frogs, organized into categories. Frogs on bicycles, frogs with hats, frogs sitting on lily pads. It was a virtual museum of ceramic frogs in web form.
I scrolled through his online collection of frogs, slightly baffled.
“This is your website?” I asked finally.
“Yep!”
“You coded this yourself?” I popped into view-source mode and poked around some incredibly well-formatted, well-commented html. I nodded slowly. This guy was meticulous.
“Yep!”
“So… where’d all the frogs come from?”
“I made those too,” he says, beaming.
And while I’m processing this he rummages in his bag and pulls out a little ceramic frog working at a computer terminal. He places it on the table before us, next to the laptop.
“And THIS one,” he says, “I made for you! As a thank you for the interview.”
It was adorable. I hired him on the spot. I mean, why not? Worst case he’d wash out in 90 days and we’d hire somebody else. He turned out to be one of the best developers on our team.
And yes, his cubicle was loaded with ceramic frogs.
He knew how to code and he used it to share his passion with the world just for the hell of it. Only an idiot *wouldn’t* hire him

In the comic books, when he’s unfrozen, Steve wakes up screaming for Bucky.
source, i demand source
…there you go.
just wanted to add that this is how Steve also reacted in Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
And in ‘Man Out of Time’!
Also Captain America: White
"you have a responsibility to consider how your writing would affect other people" literally 50% of writing is manipulating the audience by setting tone and mood and drawing them in to fuck with their emotions. writers do NOTHING but consider how our writing is affecting other people and this is implying that our moral imperative is to make them feel warm and fuzzy which it is not

listen. i know it’s not 2014 anymore and i know it’s just a throwaway line and that the russo brothers didnt intend for marvel action blockbuster captain america the winter soldier to become the tragic gay love story that never was but man. having steve say “it’s kind of hard to find someone with shared life experience” in a conversation about romantic relationships right before the bucky reveal is so cruel. it’s not just about steve and bucky obviously having the shared experience of being “out of time,” it’s the fact that they’ve both been stripped of their humanity in opposite directions. steve is a legend, he is an american hero and a national icon before he is a human being the same way that bucky is a weapon and a killing machine before he is a human being. steve knows that anyone who falls in love with him in the 21st century fell in love with captain america first, and that’s just not him. but then the one person who knew him first and knew him best and loved him (not captain america, that little guy from brooklyn) so much he died for it is alive, impossibly. and it’s a miracle because he’s back and it’s horrific because he’s back under the worst possible circumstances. but to steve, the winter soldier is worth tearing the world apart for because he’s always been bucky first. they find each other and suddenly they’re human again. and maybe, despite it all, being “out of time” becomes a blessing, because in this century they’d finally be allowed to love each other the way they’ve always wanted to. like real people do.
like. no. the captain america trilogy isn’t about two queer men traumatized and alienated by war and modern life rediscovering and reclaiming their humanity through their love for each other. but. i mean. it couldve been
