i'm not your princess, this ain't a fairy tale

It wasn't that he didn't love Eddie and Tommy anymore, it was the complete opposite if he was being honest to himself. He loved them so much that it hurt, and it hurt even more when he realized just how much it was harming him to be a third member of a relationship.
OR: Buck leaves his relationship behind.

Eddie and Tommy were both gone on a shift, which left Buck at home all alone. He had seen them off that morning, giving them both a soft kiss before they each left in their respective vehicles. The moment the door closed behind them, Buck felt the breakdown beginning in his chest.
This was it. His last morning in the shared house they all were living in. After months of feeling like an outsider in the relationship, Buck was finally moving out and putting his own emotional well-being first.
It wasn't that he didn't love Eddie and Tommy anymore, it was the complete opposite if he was being honest to himself. He loved them so much that it hurt, and it hurt even more when he realized just how much it was harming him to be a third member of a relationship.
Buck had so little in common with Eddie and Tommy when it came to interests they could do together. Meanwhile, Eddie and Tommy had muay thai and basketball they could do together, not to mention flying to Las Vegas for fight nights when Tommy's buddy had extra tickets to give away.
Buck wasn't in to any of that. He never had been, he never would be. He only did it to make his boyfriends happy, even if he was miserable doing it.
It all came to an end now. He was leaving, going back out into the world on his own. Eddie and Tommy would be happy with one another and Buck would find someone else in life that he would fall in love with. Someone to fill the hole in his heart that would always be shaped like two specific firefighters and a boy he had watched grow up.
He moved quickly through the house, packing his clothes and shoes into the boxes he had stored in his truck until this moment. Between the boxes and the few suitcases he had brought with him when he moved in, he could pack his belongings with ease. Clothing, toiletries, books and kitchen utensils. Anything he had brought with him upon move in was tucked away into a box somewhere.
Any sort of picture of the three of them, Buck left where they were. He couldn't bring himself to take them with him, not with how much his heart was breaking already. Taking those memories with him would only cause everything to hurt even more. He could leave them behind, let Eddie and Tommy do whatever they wanted with them.
Buck just needed to take care of himself. He had to put his mental health first and embrace what he needed. That was a fresh start somewhere else. He would stay in Los Angeles, stay within the LAFD, but he wasn't staying in an area where he could risk seeing Eddie, Tommy, Chris or anyone who was affiliated with the 118.
Taking the risk while out on a call, where they couldn't stop him to talk about everything, was something Buck was willing to do. They couldn't bring things up when they were working, they had to keep to the job. Outside of work? Buck was going to keep to himself where he couldn't be found.
Once the boxes and suitcases were packed, Buck began to carry them all out to his truck. It was like playing a game of Tetris, but he managed to get everything packed into the backseat of the cab and the bed of the truck. The last thing he did in the house was to lay his note out on the kitchen table for Eddie and Tommy to find. It explained why he was leaving and that he didn't want to be found, that he needed time to find himself and to build himself as a person.
He had written it the night before, after Eddie and Tommy had gone to bed for the night. Sitting at the dining room table, just the moonlight streaming through the window, he managed to write the letter without smearing the ink on the paper. His face was a mess of tears, snot running down his face and mixing with the tears. Emotionally, he was a mess but he knew the letter needed written so he could leave it when he left.
Now, he was leaving. The letter was on the table and his house key sat next to it, weighing it down. It felt heavy as he laid it down, like it was burning his skin to touch it, knowing what was coming next. Placing it atop the letter, Buck took a deep breath and let it back out, slow and stuttery, showing just how little he was holding it together.
Closing his eyes, Buck nodded his head and swallowed down the rock in his throat. He passed down the hallway, glancing at all the photographs that lined the hallway with memories. It was like moving through molasses to get to the front door, but the moment his hand touched the handle, he snapped to reality and almost threw himself out onto the front porch.
He had to get away, before he changed his mind and unpacked everything from his truck.
This wasn't his fairytale anymore. It was too late for him to fix everything, he had to go.
He stopped on the front porch long enough to send in the transfer papers he had filled out and had been holding onto for a while now. Where the LAFD would send him would be unknown, but he knew he had to get out of the 118 and couldn't go to the 217 and Harbor Station.
He had to leave his friends and family behind.
Taking one last look at the house that held so many memories, Buck climbed into his truck and put it in reverse, heading toward his future. A future that hopefully held better memories than the ones he was leaving behind where he felt like he could have his own fairytale.
It was for the best, that's all he kept telling himself as he left the neighborhood for the last time.

rules: share the last line(s) you wrote then tag some pals
Buck let out a wet laugh and wiped at his eyes. “Yeah, no Athena definitely helped to get them to leave me alone. I need to send her a flower arrangement or something for doing that.” He laughed again and a small smile spread across his face, the first one since the night he had found Eddie. “You guys really think I can do this and not fuck Chris up too much? Because I really, really think Eddie was drunk when he decided that I get custody of his son if he…” The fear and hesitation in his voice couldn’t be hidden.

hello you, yes YOU !!! would you be interested in participating in a 911 fandom gift exchange? I’ve talked a bit with @queermccoy and @911varietyposts about running it, and I wanna see if there’s enough interest to get it off the ground and maybe see distribution for which ships and characters we might get the most participants for.
(This would be general fandom !!! All ships and characters welcome !!!)
Would you be interested in participating?
Yes, I’m interested!
No, not for me.
Interested but not sure I could commit
more in tags/reblogs/ask or dm

This is just an interest check, no sign-ups or anything yet! The timeline would likely be over the summer and requirements would be one fanwork (fic of 1k, thereabouts).
reblogs appreciated and if you have any questions (idk that I’ll have an answer depending) feel free to hit me up!

tonights a night where i realize its been a while since i lost a bunch of my fandom friends because of opinions (about the show and episodes) and it just makes my heart break even more
its just so hard to make friends in this fandom and im too socially awkward to reach out to try and befriend people
(if you want to be friends, reach out either on Tumblr, Discord or my other linked socials. i swear im a normal person who can multiship and respect opinions as long as you dont attack me)
