Did this as a gift for a friend. I love the aesthetic of the art in Time Spiral. Tedin, Baxa, and a few others were unafraid at that time of producing art which looked odd, ugly, ungainly and grotesque. The result is art with character, which produces a lingering impression. Today, most art is slick, with an enphasis on dynamism and cool. It does not posess that quality which Artaud called cruelty, the ability to make one feel.

Messed this up a little bit, the tape I'm using rn is too adhesive by half.
Love this card, love the art, and I love Portal. It has a unique place in MTG's history, neither reprint set nor new set exactly. Since it was meant to be a separate game from MTG proper, it has reprints which are not white bordered, very strange for that era.
Anyway, I fixed that for it. Looks good with the white borders. Like it was always meant to be.
Done as a commision for a friend, probably one of the most expensive cards I've WB'd so far. I was very careful, and got pretty dang good results.
Beautiful art, though the contrast and darkness isn't exactly perfect with the white border. Wish the art was a little brighter.
A favorite of mine, possibly the best floavor text in all of MTG. Beautiful art, really cool card to boot. Love the esthetic of old Phyrexia, the combo of necromantic and soot-belching vibes is wonderful.

Love the bounce lands. Not my best boardering work, but passable.
1st time doing a reserved list card! Giving an old favorite the core-set treatment it deserves. Card was pretty beat up, happy with final result.
Love the art, so chaotic and beautiful. Goes nice with the WB.
Before the digital art boom, Kev Walker was the undisputed master of glowy, misty, and brightly colored art, something very difficult to achieve in traditional media. Here, the stark near-monochromatic look of his work really pops in the white border and Planar Chaos frame.
A beautiful example of older art, combined with a strange effect and an unappealing mana cost, makes for a cool and mostly forgotten card. Love how this looks with white borders.
All time cool dude. Dragon with a jetpack so cool. Art is high contrast with a lot of white in it, which makes the white bordering look super sick.
Love this guy as an example of classic mtg design which plays in kinda sci-fi space without being derivative.

Tried again, and successfully! This time it came out alright, though not perfect.
Watching the Kraken play the Canadiens right now. Hockey is nice, because its something that occasionally diatracts me from mtg
An observation: people with only one hobby tend to be miserable, especially if that hobby is a commercial product controlled by a corporation. Gotta branch out.
Looked through a box of old cards at a friend's place the other day. So many memories. Every time I do a WOTC survey, I choose the option "I love this game" and I mean it, but a lot of that love is built on nostalgia.

Such a cool card. Amazingly inventive effect that still manages to be quite useful! This white-bordering process went a bit sideways, one of the pinstripes is a bit wibbly. The new tape I got is not quite durable enough. Back to the old stuff, if i can find it.
Been posting less, since grad school is starting to catch up with me.
Anyway, i think the end result looks beautiful, at least from a distance. The paleness of WB'd artifacts is wonderful to me.

One of my favorite cycles, i love the classic pseudo-gods. All so cool and unique. Maybe i should wb the whole set of them.
The hybrid frame looks so strange in the white border. Haunting, like the ghost of that which could have been. When I say "this is what they took from us", this is what I'm talking about.
One of the great cards of the era, both in art and function. Love an effect so singular and powerful that it made sense then and now. And the art has a sinister menace all it's own.
