Did this as a gift for a friend. I love the aesthetic of the art in Time Spiral. Tedin, Baxa, and a few others were unafraid at that time of producing art which looked odd, ugly, ungainly and grotesque. The result is art with character, which produces a lingering impression. Today, most art is slick, with an enphasis on dynamism and cool. It does not posess that quality which Artaud called cruelty, the ability to make one feel.
Love this card, love the art, and I love Portal. It has a unique place in MTG's history, neither reprint set nor new set exactly. Since it was meant to be a separate game from MTG proper, it has reprints which are not white bordered, very strange for that era.
Anyway, I fixed that for it. Looks good with the white borders. Like it was always meant to be.

Before the digital art boom, Kev Walker was the undisputed master of glowy, misty, and brightly colored art, something very difficult to achieve in traditional media. Here, the stark near-monochromatic look of his work really pops in the white border and Planar Chaos frame.
