it comes of being raised and surrounded by Black folx my whole life i guess . with the fact we ID as transBlack , itd be silly of us to not know Black culture . but even some cis / natiBlack folx dont know (all) AAVE or what classifies as AAVE , so i always want to share my knowledge :'3

its upsetting when u DO know the origins and culture behind words like "woke" and "unc" especially because theyre SO watered down and blatantly misused . and a lot of that is intentional!!! not necessarily by individuals but by society as a whole. the original meaning of woke was INTENTIONALLY pushed out of the spotlight . its fairly easy to research this stuff so if ur curious i rlly recommend you look around here for Black creators who discuss this and similar topics ^_^ the #antiblackness is a helpful tag , but ofc be weary for discussions of racism. and creators like @/creatingblackcharacters are very informative!

reminder to radqs to be safe on the internet . especially in times like this where antis may be more actively seeking us out . that includes . . .

stop appropriating AAVE . (link) stop using it to sound comedic . stop using it as if its funny . stop treating it like a joke language . stop using it only to sound intimidating or aggressive . AAVE is not hard to research . as a community that prides itself on inclusivity , we all need to do better . tumblr is already a painfully antiblack space to exist in , it'd be nice to have at least one community where cis / trans / tris / etc. Black folx are allowed to exist and not mocked and stereotyped for our culture or languages or behaviors . pls do better . and encourage others to do better as well .
