A late-1980s Soviet brutalist project designed with that wild honeycomb facade of modular balconies. It was planned as a huge resort hotel (~480 rooms, cinema for 630) and even had a rumored rotating base to follow the sun.

Construction halted mid-project due to foundation cracks and funding collapse as the USSR fell.

It’s stood abandoned ever since - a concrete monument to ambitious dreams that never finished.

The deserted village, is a haunting, overgrown ghost settlement that was abandoned and relocated in 1927.

Originally completed in 1918, it is a 17-story skyscraper listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The building is known for its distinct Beaux-Arts architectural style, topped with a modern glass penthouse added in 1976.

The penthouse was designed by renowned architect I.M. Pei, who is famously known for the glass pyramid at the Louvre in Paris.
