don’t argue with or challenge the delusion—attempting to disprove someone’s delusions is not helpful at all and will result in that person not trusting you

assure the delusional person that they are safe; be open and honest at all times

encourage them to verbalize their feelings and offer protection to prevent injury to themselves or, possibly, others

start building a trusting relationship with them rather than acting on a desire to control their symptoms

do not confirm or feed into the delusion by asking questions about it when the person is not experiencing a psychotic episode

what it does not mean:

The way many uneducated people tried to advocate with “Don’t feed into it but don’t reality check either!!!” a few years ago, without giving proper explanations or examples, was really confusing.

This is ableism.

A person can go from no symptoms at all to being profoundly debilitated all in one day.

Some have baseline symptoms so low and flares so high, that things can go from 1 to 10 very quickly.

We never used it due to fatigue and memory issues, but we're leaving it here for anyone who wants to try it out!!

This is paramisia and there's so much wrong with it.

1- "Harmful paraphilias" there is no such thing as a paraphilia that is inherently harmful. Thoughts/feelings =/= harmful action.

There are *harm paraphilias* (as in, being attracted to inflicting harm or being harmed), but I know that's not what they're talking about. What they're talking about is paraphilias that they think are "yucky."

There are also paraphilias that cause distress, but again, that's not what they're talking about. Any paraphilia can be disordered, and thus, any paraphilia can cause distress. For example, a foot fetishist could have obsessive compulsive thoughts about feet, and that would make their paraphilia disordered. Does that make podophilia (foot fetishes/kinks), on their own, harmful? No. This same logic applies to literally any other paraphilia, even the ones you find "distasteful."

2- "Bestiality" is not a paraphilia. Zoophilia is a paraphilia. Bestiality is the act of sexually abusing an animal, zoophilia is having attraction/arousal to an animal. Beastiality is a harmful action, zoophilia is thoughts/feelings.

3- I disagree with saying "no sexual content" being enough, because paraphilias can be nonsexual (ie; romantic, queerplatonic, alterous, etc.) Instead, they could have literally just said "we do not allow depictions of ageplay, minor x adult, non-anthro animal x human, corpse desecration, or incest."

By saying you (general you) "don't allow certain paraphilias", you make it unclear if you're saying that you don't want potentially sensitive artwork, or if you're saying "we don't want these paraphiles themselves to be involved."
