Where I see a tragedy, my spouse sees a cute love story. This made me hating the ending even harder because I could see they were genuinely happy about it. And I was over here stewing in sadness.

As I was watching the show I pretty much decided I'd probably ignore cannon after they entered the bookshop and nothing after that point changed my mind. The Satan entrance was super amusing but he didn't add anything to the story beyond the brief amusement of the absurd (so he too will got ignored).

As for God, she looked amazing, I loved her casting, but I'll admit her actions did not at all match up with my expectations of her as the narrator from season 1. The personalities were completely different and I don't understand how they can be the same character. I haven't seen people talking about this so idk what everyone else thinks, but it's like they retconned s1 narrator being God so they could create a completely new God.

I hate human au's, so my first thought as I was watching the show and the actors who played Aziraphale and Crowley were playing humans was extreme disappointment and I knew sooo many people would be writing human au's now. My second thought was that I'd have loved to watch the Asa/Anthony love story if it wasn't in Good Omen's. Like, it'd make a super cute sweet show, but it just didn't hit right for me in Good Omen's. For me, doing so marred the sweetness of the relationship because of the tragedy that just happened and was continuing to happen. Because, they didn't get free will in the new universe (I've seen others talk at length on this subject so I won't), they just got a universe that removed everyone who knew free will was a lie.

But, even if the world has free will it still would have left me devastated because Aziraphale/Crowley don't equal Asa/Anthony as they are 4 different characters entirely. To me, reincarnation doesn't mean the person who was reincarnated is the same as the person who came before. I also define the soul as the combination of your personality/memory/thoughts and not as something mystical that is actually a thing. My intrinsic beliefs are definitely a part of why I was so sad with this ending. My spouse says that Asa and Anthony are the same characters as Aziraphale and Crowley and I say they literally are different people. So I guess that sums up the skism :/
