but also just, like, while im here. to look at a character like Ralsei who is defined by living her entire life for the wellbeing of others, living that life by the rules of a preexisting plan she did not agree to but feels positively compelled to follow, and decide "and also that character has already understood themselves as trans, accepted this, and allowed himself to transition" just kinda feels like a failure to engage with text? like idk if you've played an hour of the game and decided Ralsei's your favorite character then I do get it but at a certain point you kinda have to look at the characterization we're given (character who has such an underdeveloped sense of self she doesn't feel allowed to decorate her own room) and go. hm. this person has probably not transitioned.
