I really hope Parrot's next arc is him discovering the server doesn't need him. Or at least, not in the way he thinks it does.

Parrot's long been the upholder of moral justice and righteousness on the server, all about doing the overall right thing, defeating the Mafia, giving out treasure, running against Lettuce, rebuilding spawn. Everything Parrot does is for the good of the server overall. But never himself. Parrot's strangely selfish in the way he insists on being selfless, having to do the right things his way. Which is usually fine, because he is typically in the morally right, but now that he's king, I think Parrot's going to discover that he needs to be selfish, or forego the title of king.

The clear issues with Parrot rebuilding spawn is obviously overpopulation, as well as a strain on the server from having to support that many players. Things are no doubt going to go wrong very fast and it's going to stem from Parrot's immediate desire to do the right thing without thinking first. Which isn't a bad trait to have individually. But now he's king. He must have foresight beyond just the end of his initial plan, he needs to set himself in the worst possible outcome to ensure better ones occur. Parrot is hopeful, which isn't a bad thing, it's important, but he's king. He needs to be pessimistic, adaptable, accepting some of his plans won't work out right.

And his plan to win over the people sure isn't working. He cannot fathom why Lettuce, who manipulated the server into practically dying for him, was viewed in a better light than him, whose trying to make spawn better.

And that's because Lettuce thought of the people, not the server(the land and the people are not the same). Sure, Parrot's going to have the hearts of the newer players, but he hasn't really done much for the rest (besides Capital City).

Once again, Parrot being hopeful, kind, wanting to help, acting immediately on his want to do good, aren't bad traits to have as a person. But they are bad traits to have as a king because Parrot is stubborn in those values, he'll die on the hill.

Parrot needs to discover that the server doesn't need a king, it doesn't need a leader, it doesn't need an upholder of justice when all things are going relatively well (compared to the Mafia and late Law). Parrot isn't needed, not in the way he wants to be, not in the way he needs to be. I talk about Flame and identity issues, but boy does Parrot have them too, centering himself around his morals and desire to do good. Once again, not bad things to have, but tricky to push onto the server at large.

Parrot needs to be SELFISH for HIMSELF. When is the last time he's truly done something for himself? Sure he does things for himself, but that's usually only because it benefits a wider whole. I need Parrot to be discarded by the very people he wants to serve and protect, to realize the king of his ideals is not needed, to seek something for his own sake.

Please let him realize he is worth more than his moral code, let him struggle to find worth, let him find it in something he truly loves not because it benefits others, but because it benefits him first.

like the conversation between theo and parrot in this video is so insane i don't know how more people don't talk about this. like i'm going to leave the transcript below before getting into it more.

theo: you're not going to be able to save everyone. and especially not -

parrot: yes i will!

theo: - if you have nothing.

parrot: yes, i can. i will be able to do it. i'm going to save this server, theo.

theo: listen, bro. i want to join you, like, you - you - you're smart, like, you're, we make a good team. but, like, every single time we get a foothold, every single time we get a single w, we throw it all away. you're not going to survive going on like this.

parrot: well, yeah, of - there's a chance i don't survive, bro! but i'm willing to take that risk!

theo: oh my god, dude, i... [after some time passes] have you always been like this, and i just didn't notice?

parrot: [quiet exhale] nah.

theo: then when did it happen? when did you start becoming like this?

parrot: story for another time.

like this isn't even the full conversation which i can get into some other time if anyone really desperately wants to see me be insane over parrot's character in this video because i think this video is genuinely like top 3 for his character's arc but i think that the mention of parrot's passively suicidal tendencies actually being acknowledged and challenged here by focusing not just on how harmful it is to himself but how it affects the people around him is something that i find so interesting.

i especially love theo's line of 'have you always been like this, and i just didn't notice?' and parrot's response because of how it hones in on how parrot has been getting worse with how often he throws himself into danger for complete strangers' sakes more often than not.

it's not like he wasn't in his earlier 's1' videos but it's very, very clear that the lack of care he treats his life with has increased tenfold in comparison to those times. i also love how after this argument and his justification of his side to himself, he says 'in the grand scheme of things, theo didn't know anything about me at all' before showing the montage of all the people who've died in-part because they wanted to help him.

which like. no one kill me. i think that theo and parrot weren't particularly close at all until the 'tomb of the mafia' episode where parrot could become more open-minded as a result of his encounter with marlow and offer theo a genuine apology. before then i think they were definitely friends and could be called that, but the aforementioned conversation and the montage sequence in response to parrot's argument with theo shows that parrot defines himself and his life through the losses he's suffered and he thinks that until theo knows that, he's not going to know who parrot is at all. even if he never willingly yields that information. which is a very realistic way to deal with those complex feelings of grief and the guilt that can come with trying to cope with the (however miguided) idea that there could've been something that he could've done to save them.

all this to say that i think 'the search for minecraft's sunken empire' is top 3 most important videos to the building up of theo and parrot's friendship and i think more people should consider it and talk about it because i think the fact that theo and parrot didn't understand each other right away and still argued with each other is so important to parrot's character arc. like we SHOULD talk about the fact that they didn't start as this picture-perfect friendship. there's effort on both ends to make it work later on, when they do get closer and slowly but surely trust each other more.

Gotta eat anything that fuel your shipper's need,right?

I also find it cute how, in Phantom Parade, Gojo invites Utahime to Tokyo to help cheer her up.

Yes, I know she says she'd never fall in love with either of them, but I mostly interpreted that as her way of saying that, she is still there for them even if it's not necessarily romantic. I mean it would be a bit out of nowhere for her to think about romance in that moment. It also seems like a way for Gege to ensure that no one interprets the scene romantically, making it feel more genuine to their friendship.

I think that’s why I like this ship so much. I like that Gege didn’t force her to think about romantic feelings for either of them. It makes the bond feel more genuine she genuinely valued their friendship and saw them as people, not potential love interests. Her connection with them came from a place with no ulterior motives. It makes the ship feel more like a genuine bond that was earned and developed naturally.

I do think it's a little bit crazy that they all have in common a scene where Aoi is drawn from their POV and she has the same flowers drawn in the background (not the flowery add-on to her speech bubbles) and she is drawn to be particularly pretty to the viewer.

Not only that, but in two of these instances, this is a panel where Aoi tries to charm them (Nene and Akane) into doing something with her, and it would have worked on Akane if it weren't for the immediate threat (Teru).

We don't really get a reaction from Teru, because at this moment in the story, I think Aidairo wanted to keep his crush not explicit. (although, it's not very subtle that Teru has a similar pov panel than Aoi's love interest in the SAME chapter (59)). They still made an Aoi spread which makes her the prettiest she ever looked in my opinion.

But yeah, it's just funny to me that she has those three fools enamored with her who would go through hell to bring her back.
