Media Talk Masterlist

I was watching a video on Tik Tok about how they made the tornado scene in the Wizard of Oz's and it just got me thinking about how creating things and the process of making things is actually so fun to do. I think especially with the rise of Generative AI, I think a lot of people want everything to look perfect, including mainly art. I completely understand if you want your art to look good, but I think with how a lot of things now are mass produced, everyone just wants a perfect product.

For one of my art classes we were making clay sculptures and I made a Spinosaurus sculpture. Now is it perfect and completely accurate to the one paleontologists idea of what the animal looks like? God no. But I genuinely had such a fun time making it and because it's just for me, why should it matter if it looks perfect. I think that ones you remove the part of "having every little bit of it to be perfect" out of the equation, you have a lot more fun with thing.

coming from someone who has been in the fandom community sense I was 10-11, we need to make some changes on how we treat others in the community and also the writers and people making the media we are fans of. I am tired of seeing the same old problems with people in the fandoms sending death threats to people that are also in the community and to creators or other issues. I think we as a whole have to understand that the fanbase we make around a type of media does affect the creators too. Take MHA and Star vs the forces of evil. I was apart of the MHA fandom during when people were sending death threats to the author to make either KiriBaku or BakuDeku canon. And you know what happened? Now literally none of the actual ships are canon and I'm sorry but have we all forgotten basic human decency?? Why are we sending death threats to anyone? In some situations, like if you disagreed with someone on a topic, you should not be bullying or telling someone to kill themselves on the internet. Also when it comes to actual controversy, (I am specifically talking about the TADC) why are being up controversy that either

A. Happened years ago

B. At the last minutes

What makes me confused on why people were hating on the VA for Jax and Zooble is just, why now at the end of the show? The incident happened years ago and the VA for Jax was a prominent VA. He is known in the Indie Animation community, especially as the Pilot VA for Angel Dust in Hazbin Hotel. Did know one think to bring it up then??

And I have heard this excuse a few times with people acting childish in the community as "Well this is how people were like before 2020" which like, why does that matter. Community and community standards need to change over time? Why are we acting like if 13 year old edge lords aren't ruining the fandom, it shouldn't matter because that's what was happening in the 2000s to 2010s???

Another thing that is pissing me off is the whole "LARPING" thing. I understand the annoyance with people joining a community because it's popular or cool to do but why should it even be a matter to have a name for it. It's honestly just something that I feel gatekeepers use to bash any new fans instead of calling out people who are fake fans. Like I have been in the fnaf community for most of my life, but most of the people who are calling out people who are fake fans, are saying that because you don't know the name of one minor character that isn't shown ever except in fucking FNAF world. I also just don't like to use the world "LARP" in this context because that means Live Action Role Play. We already have fake fan and poser, why do we need a whole new thing to call someone. I also just hate the people on instagram that are in the comments on every single JJK post with the whole "We Can't Read" BS. Now I know it is prob rage bait but it still does piss me off. I feel like those people are more poser than the actual posers because they won't explain what that means.

Also this is specifically anime and manga related but this issue has been alive even before I started watching anime but can we please stop calling people fake fans for not reading the manga or for not listening to the anime with sub. I personally don't read the manga because that's a lot of books to buy, especially because I am a huge One Piece fan, but I also don't use the English dub on all of the anime I watch because I don't want to miss things and I also want to be able to watch smt while say, cleaning or doing other tasks.

This is coming from someone who is apart of the LGBTQ+ community but I sometimes don't see anything wrong with straight writers, authors, and directors making LGBTQ+ stories. I do understand that sometimes, certain artists will fetishize gay people, especially mlm and wlw but if the author doesn't do that, I really don't see what's wrong. Artists should be able to explore different groups of people and get to be able to create art. This idea of discussion is coming from watching Jules Dappers video on "Things Have Gotten Worse" By Eric LaRocca, were she mentions a criticism of the book is that its a toxic relationship between two lesbian women and that the author is a man. (I genuinely love Jules Dapper's videos, they are so fun to listen to while studying or cleaning my room for the nth time).

This is more of a ramble type blog but I feel it most goes into movie ideas.

I have noticed that a lot of the times when it comes to female protagonists in horror movie, it is a younger girl and the villain is an older woman. I did get this idea from Girl On Film's video, "Hollywood has a 'scary old lady' problem". (It's a great video, pls do watch it). So I was thinking of it being a twist of some sort, the protagonist being an older woman and the antagonist being a younger woman.

It can talk about how scary nursing homes can be and maybe the nurses are killing the older people for maybe there money or other nefarious reasons.

Another story line is that an older woman is being stalked by another person or entity somewhere but the elderly woman's family, or someone is taking care of her is not listening to them and leaves them isolated.

It could also be a dystopian type of story where once you reach a certain age, people gradually ignore you, leaving you all alone when someone takes you to a building for you to live and everyone is treated like cattle.

Or, also going off the dystopian part of that idea, it can also be that once an older woman reaches a certain age, they are killed because they aren't seen as "beautiful". It can talk about how older women are seen in society versus how men are society. (especially with the idea of women aging like milk while men age like wine. Also how in magazines, women's faces are edited to not show wrinkles while mens face don't have that amount of treatment).

I don't really plan on being a dictator or anything in the movie industry, these are all just random ideas I have

I want to be able to explore the fears that I have and hopefully control my anxiety
