Despite my best efforts, I find myself thinking about Flowery âFlower Manâ Deltarune and especially the line âYou already know how I feel about youâ addressing Kris. The implication of that line is that Flowery had a Soul-free conversation with them when they first opened the dark world in the flower shop. Kris must have tried to make some sort of bargain with Flowery, same as they did with Seth. Question is: did Flowery accept Krisâs offer, whatever it was? Did he behave as they intended upon creating the dark world?
Plants are neither darkners nor lightners, but somewhere in-between according to Flowery, and indeed, the seven flowers do seem to have much more agency over the diegetic game system of the dark world than regular darkners. Seth is able to straight up ignore the effects of the ACT system, and Flowery exploits the mechanics of the game constantly to fabricate stats and use the battle system to his advantage.
All this to say, is it possible that Flowery heard Krisâs demand, whatever it was, and straight up refused, doing his own thing instead? Flowery certainly didnât behave like someone in league with the Roaring Knight. I suppose itâs possible that Kris asked him to protect Asgore from the Knight and he agreed, but such a request would obviously run counter to the RK Group Chatâs objective as we understand it based on the Knightâs actions, so if Kris *did* make such a request then theyâd probably have been going against Carolâs orders, whatever they were.
Looking back at the other dark world Kris made back in the Dreemurr house, the will of the darkners of TV World seemed to very heavily reflect the desires of Kris themself. The desire for their parents to get back together, for freedom (per the sword game and Ramb), for Toriel to be kept safe and out of the loop. For the resolution to be delayed long enough for Undyne to arrive and be taken in Torielâs stead.
But in flower world, the seven flowers are instead very much focused on repaying Asgoreâs kindness to them over the years. Making *him* happy. Iâm not so sure thatâs really what Kris asked them all to do. I donât know what exactly Krisâs orders were or what their plan was, but something about Flowery tells me that if asked to âstall for time until the Knight comes to take Asgore awayâ he wouldnât be particularly inclined to do so. Heâd scoff and tell Kris to âGet a chance!â Thereâs no way in hell heâs letting the Knight take Asgore away without a fight! And indeed, Flowery fought with everything he had until his last breath.
Idk, I just canât stop thinking about that line, yâknow? How *does* Flowery feel about Kris? Considering his perspective on the Dreemurr family as a whole, I canât imagine he feels especially positive feelings towards them, but then again, if the answer were that simple I feel like Flowery could have easily just snitched on them in front of Susie. Then again, maybe he did, and Susieâs just pretending she doesnât already know Kris is working with the Knight. She managed to keep Floweryâs tip about the shelter code secret, after all. We never heard that conversation. For all we know, Susie could already know because âOh yeah, Flowery told me!â
Flowery seems very perceptive, very aware of the internal conflicts of the various Fun Gang members. Perhaps the reason he didnât snitch on Kris is because he has faith in them, that ultimately theyâll choose to do the right thing, even though itâs hard. Maybe he gave extremely personalized, hard-to-swallow advice to a soulless Kris, of a similar caliber to the kind he gave Ralsei. Maybe he told them that he knows they know what the right thing to do is, and encouraged them to break free from Carolâs influence. I donât know.
I wanna hear other peopleâs thoughts on this because tbh Iâm obsessed with the implications. Am I overthinking this? What the hell was Kris even trying to do here? UGH! THE MYSTERY! IT VEXES AND HAUNTS ME!
Ohhhh that Kris. What an unpredictable creatureâŚ
