I wanna hear your theory >:) - 2️⃣
Alrighty! So I was going to draw a comic (and maybe I still will) to explain it, but days are passing and it isn’t coming out right, so to avoid you waiting any longer I’ve decided to speak now. Putting it under a readmore to avoid spoilers, plus it is kinda a ramble.
BASICALLY. In the backgrounds of the new ruins, under that pretty pink sky, I’ve noticed there are A LOT of heart shapes. So many that I can’t call it a coincidence, I’ve started calling the ruins Heart Island, and even Cary himself mentioned them in his reaction. But here’s the thing. I believe the location is causing the drastic changes in Four and X, not that they wouldn’t have happened anyway.
Now it COULD just be because X left him ‘for good’ and Four realised he needs X, but I’ve noticed the shift in responsibilities. X is taking control, while Four helps out doing things like building the castles, something we long assumed was X’s job.
Here’s a quick list of changes I noticed - there could be more!:
X is respected when he asks Four not to screech, it’s even implied Four PROMISED he wouldn’t. Like they talked about it offscreen after that adorable hug reunion.
X gets to do more hosting now - I, as a huge supporter of X, was THRILLED to see him taking a bigger role, and when he said ‘that’s my job!’ so happily I squeaked. I especially love how his mannerisms differentiate from Four’s when hosting, and that they match up with his previous attempts to host. Not to mention BRB! I want to believe!!
Four is torn up about X leaving in the first place, and doesn’t seem to recall that he sent him away. This is a FAR cry from ‘nobody noticed you were gone’. (To which I will add - Cloudy did!!)
Four’s having memory and emotion problems in general. He seems to forget to be sad once he gets to the ruins, then is ABNORMALLY sad about X not being present, and even forgets which team actually lost, probably due to being too sad during the challenge and too fixated on X afterwards.
Four and X are REALLY in sync now. They are an adorable well oiled machine and I’m not going to complain at all. However, I will note that even though they’re on the same wavelength now, they definitely weren’t before, shown in their disastrous attempt at trying to roleplay. I do not think they’d be able to do the talking-in-sync thing back then.
So, what does this all add up to? My little conspiracy theory is that Two knew what he was doing sending Four there. He was counting on either Four being too sad to host without X, thus resulting in no competition (which almost happened), or Four and X being too happy on Heart Island to even THINK about going to get vengeance on Two for stealing the other contestants.
It’d also explain the pattycake instead of hosting. Wouldn’t do to have Four interrupt a contest, so he had to wait and see what the reaction would be first.
Anyway! That’s my theory. It might make more sense with drawings. I’ll see if I can ever get the comic version right. I hope you guys find some fun in this little ramble.
