Two figures stood outside a castle, one female and one male. While they stood, horses rode up to their gates, their hooves clobbering on the stone paths with each heavy step, and on their backs, many men, their faces serious and their postures alert, it was as if they were waiting for something to jump out of hiding and attack them.
Y/n didnât seem to care though, her eyes trained on what looked like the leader of the group. She couldnât help but raise her brow as the men came more into view,
âBrother, that red haired one is quite handsomeâ She said whispered, looking over to her brother as to take in his expression. Nolan glanced over at the red head, silently taking in the appearance and body language of said man,
His face remained expressionless, it took a full five seconds before he even responded back, âDo you want him?â He asked stoically, his eyes now also trained on the red haired rider who was getting even closer to the threshold of their castle walls,
âHmmmmâ she hummed, âWe can see about thatâ As soon as those words left her mouth, the entourage arrived, dozens of horses filling through the gate, all following one man. The one she had set her eyes on.
âNot only handsomeâŚbut he commanding as well, I like this oneâ she thought to herself a smile on her face as she watched him get off his horse, some of his men following in his stead while some kept on their horses,
âMy lord, my lady, it is an honor to meet youâ He said, his eyes assessing the two siblings infront of him,
âMy name is RobbâŚ.Robb Starkâ The two looked at him, taking in his introduction as a moment of silence washed over them as they stood there, the two not yet responding to anything he had said,
The woman then looked over at her brother, then looked at the man in front of her, then back to her brother, it was as if they were having a conversation in their minds,
Robb stood there confused, momentarily looking back at his men who had started to dismount from their horses, the odd behavior of the siblings drawing their suspicions,
A smile suddenly grew on the womanâs face as her brother gave her a nod, and before Robb could blink, she had already began walking closer towards him.
Instinctively, Robb and his men brought their hands to the hilt of their swords, their eyes trailing her as she now stood infront of the young wolf,
Her eyes looked him up and down before an even bigger smile appeared on her face. YesâŚshe definitely liked what she saw. âIâd like to welcome you to our estateâ she said softly, her eyes finding his as she held eye contact,
âMy name is Y/N,â Robb heard her say, his eyes trained on her beautiful ones as she introduced herself, âAnd that over there is my brotherâŚNolan,â Robb looked over at the man, his mysterious aura and quiet stature capturing the attention of both him and his men,
While they trained their eyes on him, Nolan kept a close eye on y/n. Silent and authoritative, as if he was anticipating that something would happen, or maybe something that she would do.
âDo not mind him, heâs a bit shy when it comes to guestsâ Y/N joked, taking the opportunity to glance behind Robbâs back and taking a look at his men, then looking back at Robb,
âIt is quite cold out my lord, would you like to continue inside?â She asked, her head nodded as she said those words, she liked how far she had gotten with this conversation, it wasnât everyday that she got to talk to anyone outside of her brother and the maids of their manors, but with the maids it was slightly awkward, so for this she was very glad.
âWeâd greatly appreciate that my lady,â Robb said quickly, his mind steadfast on remembering the reason as to why he was here, and he was glad for the lack of unnecessary small talk,
Looking back to his men, he motioned for them to follow, then as soon as he turned back around, she was already walking away, the jewelry around the waist of her dress making soft chiming sounds with each step, a peculiarity that Robb noticed,
This was definitely an odd family, that was what was going through Robbâs head as he and his men followed behind the women and her brother, their beings not at all affected nor concerned about the fact that a whole militia stood just outside their castle walls, and nor were they the least bit hesitant to let them inside their homes,
This was too good to be true, there has to be something going on here.
They all had arrived in what looked like a council room, and the room was quite a sight indeed, with paintings on the walls, a tall statue in the back corner, and a blue hue shadowing the room from the stained glass windows that was embalmed with the houses sigil, the room looked like the embodiment of elegance and beauty.
âTake a seatâ Nolan finally spoke up, walking over to the seat at the head of the table, y/n walking over to the corner as he did so.
Robb, who hasnât heard the manâs voice since his arrival didnât really expect the sound, his eyes now fixed on the expressionless Nolan as he found a seat at the other head of the table, his generals and soldiers finding seats wherever they wanted at the table, some left standing as there wasnât enough seats for everyone.
âSoâŚmay I ask the nature of this visit, it is not very frequent people find themselves on our landsâ Nolan asked, his eyes locked in on Robb. Robb wasted no time, his hands now on the table as he began talking,
âThere is a war comingâ both siblings raised their brow at this, âMy father, the Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell⌠was wrongly executed,â The room instantly grew stark cold at those words, a moment of silence passing.
Y/N slowly began walking over to where her brother was seated, now standing against the wall right behind his chair, her arms folded as she listened to him continue on.
âAnd the people who has done this now have my sisterâs hostage,â Robb could feel himself getting agitated as he uttered those words, the verbal reminder that his sisters were right in the enemyâs palms paining him deep inside, not just as a leader, but as their elder brother,
But he had to quickly remind himself that he was on a mission, he needed the men, and he needed the help for what he was about to do.
âWe plan to marching on Kingslanding and take the head of that Bastard of a king,â Robb said, staring right into Nolanâs eyes as he said those words.
âBut to do thatâŚIâm going to need more menâ immediately, a switch went off in Y/Nâs head, she knew where this was leading to.
âSo thatâs why heâs hereâ the girl thought to herself, pushing herself off the wall as she walked next to where her brother was seated, a hand on the top of the chair as she continued to listen closely,
âIâve come to ask for your aid in this missionâ Y/N looked down at her brother as Robb said this, watching as everything began to click in his head. âYou want my men?â Nolan asked, his fingers tapping on the arm rest as he listened for an answer.
âIt would benefit us greatly to have as much soldiers and troops as possible,â Robb stated, looking over at his generals as they nodded along with his words.
The young wolf then look back at Nolan, who was looking up at his sister, another silent conversation at play as the two staring at each other for a good five seconds before looking back at Robb,
âYes, it would benefit you to have as much man as possible,â Robb let out a breathe at those words, feeling as though he had finally reached somewhere,
âBut why should I help youâ
The room instantly went silent at Nolanâs words, the men all looking at Robb as they awaited his response. Before he could talk again, the only lady in the room spoke up.
âThough we understand why you need to do this, why should we sacrifice our men for your own personal goalsâ Y/N said, now drawing attention to herself, all eyes now on her. She didnât care much for the stares, she had to get her point across to the men in the room.
âOur men are very precious to us, every life both in and out of our walls are valuable,..so why should we give them to you.â Nolan added, both siblings now looking at Robb as they awaited his rebuttal.
âThere is now a tyrant on the Iron Throneâ Robb stated, a focused look on his face as he continued speaking, âWhat do you think he will do to the houses of the north now that heâs killed one of the most powerful lords of the Northern regionâ The men in the room began to make sounds of approval,
Y/N was getting his tactic, âAnd say me and my men march on Kings-landing and win...what should we do to you, knowing that you rejected our proclamation of aidâ Now everyone was looking at the two siblings.
They all knew what Robb meant by that, he was indirectly telling them that if they did not help, their house would be torn down either way, and to anyone, just that thought alone would have them scared out of their wits,
Itâs a good thing that they werenât just anyone, and boy were the men in the room about to realize this.
âKhala-kithan khor-ka i-tash-they threaten us brotherâ The woman stated, her eyes now sharp as she looked straight ahead at Robb, then back at at her brother âI knowâ Nolan repeated, not caring for the puzzled glances being thrown their way,
âIf I didnât know any better, Iâd think you were threatening usâ Nolan stated, leaning back in his seat as he took in everyone in the room, assessing their looks, builds, and auras. âThat dependsâ Robb says, tapping his fingers against the table,
âOn what,â Nolan replied, now turning his gaze back on Robb, his brow raising in curiosity at the determined look on Robbâs face,
âDo you know betterâ Another wave of silence hit the room, everyone in the room anticipating the response of the lord sitting at the end of the table, though, it wasnât one they were expecting.
Nolan shook his head at that answer, taking a few seconds before leaning on the side of the chair with a hand covering his mouth as he looked over at where his sister once stood, his eyes assessing her.
âYou have about five secondsâ Nolan said, grabbing the glass of water from the table as he waited for everything to unfold, âWhat?â Robb said, him and his men tensing up at the foreboding words,
âYou come into OUR house, and you dare threaten usâEveryoneâs, except for Nolanâs gaze snapped to the lady, watching as she slowly began to walk towards Robb, an unknown look in her eyes,
âbe calm sister, he doesnât know betterâ Nolan mumbled out, noticing the tension in the room as his sister brought herself closer and closer to where Robb sat, though she didnât take heed to his words,
âHe will learnâ As soon as she said those words, everyone in the room stood up, drawing their swords as she now stood in-front of the still sitting Robb,
She tilted her head at this, they came into HER house, demanded men from her house, threatened Nolan when he refused, and now they draw a sword to her, they were as brazen as they were foolish.
âTell your men to lower their swordsâ She said to Robb, now standing mere inches away from him. Robb stood up, his taller frame towering over here as he stood there, an aura of authority surrounding him,
âYouâd do best to listen to herâ Nolan stated, still seated and not at all affected by the tension in the room it seems, though Robb felt that was odd to him, if it were his sister in a position like this heâd be more on the edge than it seems like Nolan was,
âOr not itâs really up to youâ The woman joked, once again looking Robb up and down now that they were in such close proximity. âMy men will do no such thingâ he said,
âstubborn boyâ Nolan mumbled, though it seems to be loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, and it seems like they had quite a few thoughts about his choice of words,
âOur leader is no BOYâ one man said, the others around him making sounds of agreement, their swords drawn as they readied themselves to protect the honor of their leader,
âHe is the King of the Northâ another soldier said, the room now getting even more rowdy, the men that stood in the corners now itching closer and closer,
âTell then to calm down or there will be consequencesâ The woman said, sensing the vibe of the room and knowing that the men were riled up, âI take no orders from you,â the young wolf said, his eyes staring down into hers, âor any other manâ his gaze went over to the still seated Nolan as he said that, the man in question raising his arms in mock surrender at the stare,
âOk then, so be itâ She said, looking over at the battle hungry men behind Robb, their postures ready to strike at any moment, âI did try to warn youâ Robb heard Nolan say, the calmness in his voice unsettling Robb to the core, but before he could react, his body went stiff,
âSIT DOWNâ An force suddenly overtook everyone in the room, their eyes widening as their heart began to beat fast, the lack of control of their bodies causing panic to start to rise in them,
âYou come into our house and dare to draw arms against usâ She said, along with what sounded like multiple other voices, âI should slice your neck open right nowâ the voices said, her hand grabbing his hair and tugging his head back,
Everyone sat silently as this all happened, their bodies immobile and unable to even an inch as they watched the woman do as she pleased. âTell me..Robb, one reason I should not kill you and all your men in this roomâ she said, her voice now back to normal, her hands now gripping his cheeks as she forced him to look up at her,
âI ha..ve no reasonâ he managed to say.
The woman paused at his words, shouldnât he be pleading for his life right now, what was he saying?? âYou do not plead for your life, whyâ The woman asked, her head tilted at the unfamiliar happening infront of her,
âA king never pleadsâ For the first time in a long time, something magnificent had happened, this was something that had never happened before in all the nineteen years she has been aliveâŚ..she was shocked.
Looking down into his eyes, she tilted her head as she spent the few seconds looking for the slightest hint of fear or vulnerability in his eyes.
Her hands left his face slowly, taking a step back as she acknowledged everything that had just happened, and it wasnât long before a smile broke on her face, her earlier frightening mood gone in an instant, turning to face the still immobilized soldiers, she gave them a quick command,
âSLEEPâ She said, and immediately, they all fell into a deep slumber, their bodies weak to the spell her voice had casted on them. Robb could feel himself getting restless, the feeling of vulnerability being both new and frightening to him,
âNolan, did I do good?â She said, letting out a chuckle as she walked away from Robb to the direction of where her brother was, a hop in her step as she crossed through around the room,
âYeah, you scared them out of their wits thoughâ he said back, âBut I definitely got their attention,â the sister said, stealing the glass of wine from her brothers hand and taking it for herself,
âYou seem to have gotten more than thatâ he replied, seemingly forgetting about the man sitting at the edge of the table, right in time for him to start talking,
âWhat is going on here???â Both siblings looked at each other, then looked at Robb, Y/N scratching her head as she tried to find words for him,
âWell you seeeee, we had read a book on how to talk with people about armyâs and stuff and I used it as referenceâ she said proudly, her hand on her brothers shoulder as she talked, âOh, do forgive me for what I did to your menâŚ.couldnât have them attacking us now could weâ she said, shrugging her shoulders as if what she had did was nothing big,
âHow did you do that?â Robb asked, his mind still frantic, the lack of concern in the room starting to get to him, adding to the fact that he couldnât move, AND his men were in what he thinks is a deep like trance,
âDo not worry about that right now, just listen closely to what I am about to sayâ As the woman spoke this, Nolan silently stood up from the chair, making room as he let his sister take his place at the head of the table,
âWe will lend you our menâ Robb paused at her words, wasnât all this because they DIDNT want to give them his men, what the in seven hells was going on right now,
âI know what youâre probably thinking, but just know that we have their best interest at heart, so we cannot give them up to the first man that asksâ he heard her say, âLives are meant to be lived, and if our men are to give theirs up, we have to ensure it is for good reasonâ
âAnd you Robb, you have good reasonâ
