Y No Temas

I started Y No Temas because I was tired of being afraid. Tired of not living because I didn’t know what to do. Tired of not trying because I didn’t know the outcome. That type of bondage is something that I loved in for years. It wasn’t until recently when I reconnected with an old friend that I really understood a lot.

Now, I say old friend, but really I was obsessed with the kid back in the day. We met over 20 years ago. We fake dated in middle school. We haven’t seen each other in 13 years. He went away for some stupid stuff. Long story. But his friendship is something I willl treasure forever.

The thing about him is, I will always love him. The intensity, the type, reason may change. Different parts of life will determine that. But that man holds one of the dearest parts of my heart.

Ever since 2000, I’ve loved him. When we were together, when we weren’t. When we were in relationships with other people while we were single. When he got a friend pregnant, when he went away, when I was doing my foolishness, when I hated him. No matter where I was, I loved him. And I still love him. But here’s the thing: I love him as a person SO MICH, that even if we never talked again, if we end up marrying other people, wherever life takes us, I will love him. I want him happy, even if I’m not that one that does that for him. I will always be on his side. My loyalty is to him. And his is mine. As we were talking, it’s very clear that if asked, I would wait for him. He absolutely loves the Lord. He’s the one that initiated conversations about the Lord. Every letter, the two times we’ve talked, the conversation is centered in Christ, then getting to re-know each other. Every time I reread his letters, I want to hold him and kiss him. Good guy, caught up with the wrong people, did a dumb thing. I can’t wait till he comes home. 25 months. Two years. I can’t wait to see the man he has become and is becoming.
