i think back to the Half Life Alyx gnome commentary and what their response to people theorizing that Benrey would show up at the end of that one was. They call it a cop-out. Too obvious. Too easy.

Stain has been in the works for some time now (2021 at the latest) as mentioned on Mike's stream. and seemingly always intended to be a Barney model. They knew exactly what the viewers initial response would be to that. The blue hunger text? The "i just wanted to HElp But Something's.... Stopping me..!"? Isn't that a little TOO perfect? Especially so early on into the series? We'll without a doubt reach double digits of acts at the rate were going. I think they're leading into some kind of fake out. Either Stain's deal is something entirely unrelated or, more entertainingly for me at least, he's literally just Like That. Maybe we'll never even get to find out. How about that! #SacrificalLambStain I am not totally opposed to Benrey showing up also, I just can't imagine it's something so directly tied to Stain as him literally being Benrey/puppeteered by him ect. I can see him showing up as a one time gag and dying instantly (lol), I can see him never physically showing up but haunting the narrative intrinsically (he's kind of already doing this).
