i have a lot of strong feelings about how difficult everything can be for people who "don't look like" they're disabled, "so why are you struggling so much with easy tasks?"

i DO believe that a good writer can make mischaracterization work. oh there's a character who doesn't normally cry? figure it out!! disect the character. make the situation cryable for them. make that character cry ugly tears even if it goes against their very nature. YOU CAN MAKE IT WORK!!!

A great piece of advice I've seen is "Don't fixate about what the character would never do. Think about the circumstances that would drive them to do this, even if they wouldn't normally."

#in wdwtd Ren goes through a LOT a lot. so much trauma. so much damage #but theyre always quite stoic. theyre not an emotional kind of person other than reactive anger for the most part #ren does not cry. until they DO! once in season 1 and once in season 2 #and i wrote so much of the story plot points in a certain way JUST to get him to that point where he'd have a reaction that strong #and i love it :)

i love how as a kid i always heavily related to mask imagery, but the drama masks specifically (tragedy/comedy masks). i especially always latched onto characters who actively used the imagery (like Kano from KagePro) and characters who were faceless or had a blank mask (like Soundwace from TFPrime and Legion from ME2) turns out it was autism
