To anyone that had ever met Leon, it was no secret that he loved his books. Naturally, his preference lay with non-fiction: books he could learn from and apply their knowledge to his everyday life, should the need ever arise. That was partially what led him to take out the textbook on power tools that he was now returning, itâs contents read and observed by the young blond. If the time ever came for someone to ask about whether to use a brad point or a countersink drill bit, he would most certainly have the answer they were looking for.
This time, he was in the mood for something different. A novel sounded good in that moment, and so Leon headed over towards the section he wanted. While there, a girl had arrived in the same aisle although he paid her no mind. He was quite used to drowning out others with his thoughts, whether on purpose or simply due to habit. He was, however, easily stirred from his thoughts when the girl attempted to catch his attention. Leon turned his head, slipping the book he was looking at back onto the shelf.Â
âThat depends. What sort of text are you looking for?â Leon replied, after hearing her request. He wasnât a librarian, but he certainly knew his way around the stacks of books. He regarded her swiftly, a polite sweep of her character to determine an opinion, at first glance. She certainly didnât seem the type to spend her days cooped up in a library - unlike Leon.Â
He did wonder what sort of books this woman might be searching for. Romance novels? Mystery? It was possible she simply wanted to check out a textbook, although heâd never noticed her before on campus so he doubted that. Leon wasnât doing anything particularly important so he supposed he could aid her for the time being, although he wasnât exactly the best at small talk either. Hopefully she wouldnât mind.Â
âI spend a lot of time here, so I should be able to help. Just give me an idea of what youâre looking for, and Iâll do my best to guide you.â
Now that she thought about it, she wasnât even sure what type of book she was looking for to begin with. She could read just about anything that was put in front of her, but hadnât even paid attention to the best sellers list in quite a few years. AmĂ©lie took a moment and tried to come up with any sort of title, and pressed a thoughtful finger to her chin. âIâm not actually sure,â she eventually stated, moving her gaze back to the shelf in front of her. Decisive, she was.Â
The woman let out a soft, abrupt chuckle, laughing at herself. âI suppose you can never go wrong with true crime novels.â AmĂ©lie looked back over to him, lowering her arms and wearing a very small smile. âNot that Iâd need to say it as Iâm sure youâve already guessed... I havenât visited a library in quite a while.âÂ
She took a quick glance around her, taking in her surroundings one more time; students filled the area around them, most sitting in groups at tables, studying textbooks or sharing the latest gossip. The corner of her mouth twitched downward for just a moment as she reflected on the past, but decided to kick the memories under the rug once more. Her eyes finally rested on Leon.
âDo you have any recommendations?âÂ
