to be completely honest the science behind it was something josie wasnāt sure of. sheād been taught to mix things by hand, she had realised that the process of it was what helped when she needed a break from things. āi donāt know,ā josie hummed, āi like it this way though, doing it by hand i mean, the manual labor part of it helps.ā she insisted. āprobably my sister by default, if i take it back to our room she will probably have some,ā josie contemplated, pausing for a moment before shrugging,Ā āwhy? do you want some?āĀ
Josie seemed like the type of baker who had done this before. So he wondered... why did she accidentally spill some batter on herself? āDo you like it cause it takes your mind off of things?ā The question might be a little itntrusive but Xavy was curious. He wanted to know. āYour sister huh?ā Xavy looked at her tentatively. His eyes told her what his words didnāt. One of the biggest mysteries of what happened in the school lie with the sisters. No one really knew what happened after the merge. And he didnāt know if the sisters knew either. But somehow Xavy canāt help but wonder that if anyone of the students knew more about whatās going on, it might be the Satzman twins.Ā āUh...ā he hesitated.Ā āWhat flavor is it?ā

āAlright, fair. Fair.ā he chuckled, hands up in mild defeat. His time at the school hadnāt been all that long ago, despite the fact that being here made him feel nothing short of old. Worried, too. Half the problems these kids were currently facing were nothing like heād ever been asked to deal with as a student. The monsters, the pit of goo that was apparently sentient somehow ā at least he was here and could help, however that may be. His own food grilling up pretty fast, he slid it onto a plate and went to sit on the countertop a few feet from Xavy.Ā āHowās it been for you? Pick your classes alright and everything?ā
.
Xavy took a bite from the quesadilla before giving in to his smile. Jamie was just a few years older than Xavy and yet, he was sure that the two werewolves practically went to two different schools. Especially since Xavy never got to experience it during a time where only vampires, werewolves, witches, and Hope Mikaelson existed. But the school dynamic couldnāt have changed that much, could it?Ā āItās beeen okay. Iāve picked them but, I donāt know. The classes felt weird. I donāt know if theyāre expecting us to remember what we suppposedly learned in the last sixteen months.ā Xavy decided not to talk about the other parts of his life that didnāt involve his studies. That part was too complicated to talk about a casual midnight snack.Ā āHow about you though?ā
She glanced around, seeing what he meant. The roof had changed from the last times sheād escaped to it, apparent spots cleared where he must have sat, less leaves and branches littering the ground around them.Ā āWe should start leaving a blanket up here or something. Really lay claim and all.āĀ
Hope was sort of hiding, there was no other real explanation besides the one that sounded stupid even to her, but she tried either way.Ā āItās just⦠it sounds so idiotic to say considering I was in a coma or whatever and everyone is literally missing a year of memories but. School is back up and running, classes starting, things just feel sort of normal. Iād forgotten what that was like in some weird twisted way.ā It left her feeling too big for her own skin, restless.Ā āI donāt know how to just go along with normal anymore.ā
.
As his eyes scanned the roof, his eyes landed on a couple of loose roof tiles beside him. His hands reached to turn them and underneath, he found an old folded blanket hidden in the nook below. Xavy recognized it too. It was one of the few blankets that he brought with him to the Salvatore School when he first enrolled. It was new. Or at least it was new then.Ā āWell it looks like old me already have us beat,ā he said as he showed Hope the blanket.Ā
He stood up with perfect balance thanks to his being a werewolf and laid the blanket on the slanted roof. Xavy then sat back down and motioned for Hope to do the same. What she just said earned his smile.Ā āOnly Hope Mikaelson will call this situation normal.ā Well maybe it was normal. Xavy still hasnāt experienced studying in the school when it wasnāt being plagued by monsters so maybe thatās what she was referring too but... Surely the year gone was just as jarring for her as it was for the rest of them?
He returned to the stove, tossing a few ingredients into the skillet to grill up before the tortilla came into play.Ā āI do. Learned pretty young. My parents were both pretty busy, not always home at nights. So I learned to cook to avoid ramen every night situations.ā It had been helpful, and heād only gotten better when he got to the salvatore school and its plentiful kitchens. It was a nice way to detach a bit, escape into mindless activity.Ā āIt used to be fun when I went here, sneak in with some friends late at night, cook up whatever munchies we could get our paws on.ā
.
Sounds of ingredients sizzling filled the kitchen as Jamie continued cooking.Ā āI never did,ā Xavy admitted as he watched the older werewolf continue to cook. Other than adding the ingredients to the pan, Xavy had absolutely no idea what the other man was doing. Throughout his years in boarding school, he survived eating whatever the school fed him. Things didnāt really change when he left for the Salvatore School, even with the easily accesible kitchen that it boasted of.Ā āYou say that as if people donāt do that anymore.ā The tiniest of smirk formed in Xavierās lips.
āyeah, i had everything once upon a time.Ā but now iām old and donāt understand kids and their apps and their slang.Ā oh god, iām turning into my parents.Ā great.āĀ ethan ran a hand through his hair.Ā Ā ānothingās coming across as super useful right now, though.āĀ he assumed deleting stuff was just, like.Ā a part of life.Ā or maybe reinventing himself when he got turned?Ā ethan had no idea.Ā but it didnāt really matter.Ā itās not like he would have made a status about bloodlust.Ā Ā āi need to go through texts, but it seems like a lot of those are pointless too.āĀ ethan, be less vapid challenge.
āYouāre not old, Ethan.ā Xavy looked up from his phone to give him a doubtful stare. Unless Ethan was a century old vampire then he highly doubted the other manās attempt to make himself feel old.Ā "Hmmm... Thatās a shame.ā This was one of the those rare cases where too much posting could actually be useful for everyone. Xavy was sure there ought to be one person in school who must have done that throughout the missing sixteen months.Ā āArenāt you the least bit curious? Maybe someone made a post or something about what we all canāt remember?āĀ

āi donāt know,ā josie began with a laugh,Ā āyouāve clearly never had a flour catastrophe with a stand mixer, a finely milled powder and high speed does not match very well at all,ā the dark haired siphon insisted. but one thing xavier was right about was the lack of the cake batter she now had in the bowl. she may have been able to clean up her mess with moderate ease but now she was left with little to no future cake. josie pursed her lips in annoyance, huffing lightly,Ā āthat is⦠a fair point, this wouldnāt really make much of a cake and if i bring any back to the dorm and its not enough for at least two people itās not going to work.ā
She laughed. That seemed to be a good sign. Well, she was right. He hasnāt really tried his hand on baking so he didnāt really consider that scenario. But hey, whatās the point of having it if it wasnāt going to be used for itās specific purpose.Ā āWould mixing it in medium speed not do?ā Maybe it was another unhelpful suggestion but at least Xavy was trying. Trying to do what exactly? Reestablish something that he couldnāt even remember? Even Xavy canāt exactly say.Ā āAre you making the cake for someone?āĀ
āyouāre right.āĀ he watched the kid smack his face, and ethan was about to voice his concern when the younger male spoke up.Ā Ā āhm?Ā oh.Ā i mean, just a lot of selfies.Ā a couple instagram thirst traps,Ā whoopsies,Ā some tweets that mean absolutely nothing out of context.āĀ ethan clicked through apps.Ā heād checked it all before, but it didnāt hurt to skim again.Ā Ā āapparently deleted facebook in that time.Ā which, honestly?Ā good for past me.ā
āOh.ā His face couldnāt help but show disappointment. Then again, he didnāt know why expected more from someone whoās a... Xavy gave the previous-witch-now-turned-vampire once over. Well, someone whoās an Ethan. He figured itād be best to just leave it as just that.Ā āI never had Facebook,ā Xavy mumbled as he went through his phone.Ā āAllĀ I have are text messages.ā He skimmed through his messages briefly. Heāll probably need more time to get through a whole year of messages, even with the little social circle that he had. Looking at his phone, it didnāt seeem that thatĀ part of his life changed either.
josie didnāt need the rag he tossed in her direction, instead mumbling a quick spell for the mess to disappear from both the surfaces and her own clothes.Ā āi know, but itās not the same,ā she insisted, looking towards the stand mixer,Ā āyou donāt get the same feeling for the mixing and the batter and it is too easy to over mix something and then youāre left with tough cake, no one wants that,ā josie spoke fast and a lot, her and xavier hadnāt been friends and yet her phone was filled with texts to and from the boy that she couldnāt explain.
She didnāt need the rag. That figures. Life was probably way easier as a witch. Even as a siphon like Josie. āItās not as messy either.ā Xavy had never really baked so he didnāt know whether she was telling the truth or not so he just figured what she said was probably correct. He looked at the bowl which now had significantly less batter. Even her spell couldnāt save that. āBut at least youāll have a cake,ā he offered helpfully. Or unhelpfully. He didnāt really know what the dynamic of past Xavy and past Josie was. But it couldnāt have been as awkward as this.
āNo, youāre not in trouble. At least not from me. Plenty of kids around here seem to be having some issues with sleeping. I wonāt fault that.ā He shrugs, glancing down at the counter and the amount of ingredients he still has before him. It seemed plenty, so his next words were an offering.Ā āYou want in on this? I can easily just make myself another one.ā Even as he spoke the wolf plated the slices, sliding it across the kitchen island between them to where some toppings lay and leaving it up for him to decide.Ā
.
The younger werewolf just nodded in reply. He was just glad to hear that he wasnāt in trouble. Whether the teaching assistant being a werewolf himself helped or not, Xavy wouldnāt be certain. His eyes returned to the ingredients on the table. He could smell the ground breef from where he was standing, making his previously dry mouth water.Ā āThanks,ā he said before grabbing a slice and placing all his usual toppings. He wasnāt about to look a gift horse in the mouth. It wasnāt half-bad. With his mouth still half-full of quesadilla, he asked,Ā āYou cook?ā
Sheād hoped training would snap her out of whatever funk she was in, but two hours later and Alaric had called it a day and the tribrid still felt far too restless for her own good. It was easy to fade into the crowds now though, everyone far too occupied with the new parts of campus or new faces and old to watch as she headed out of the grounds towards the old mill. Maybe it was the heights, the way the world could look just a little bit differentĀ ā sheād tried to paint it a few times but could never quite get it right. But there was a calmness to it all, and she craved it.
But someone already was perched up there, and it took a moment to zero in on the fact she knew just who. But Xavy was already gesturing her up, so she wandered over to the run down trellis and climbed with relative ease. Soon enough Hope dropped down next to him, breath an exhale of a sigh.Ā āHiding too?ā
.
He watched Hope climb effortlessly on the trellis. Thereās a reason why she was always deemed the hero of the school. Xavy idly wondered why witchesĀ ā or in Hopeās case, tri-bridĀ ā never levitate to get to places. If he were witch, that would be exactly what heāll do. A werewolfās increased strength and stamina could only get you so much. Hope, he realized, can practically take her pick.Ā āMore like getting away,ā Xavy corrected. He wasnāt exactly hidden sitting on top of the roof, even with all the trees.Ā āAlthough I guess itās safe to assume thatās what youāre doing.āĀ
He looked around at the multiple footprints on the roof. He recognized most of the prints to be his. āIt seems like Iāve been here a lot this past year and a half. I donāt know if thatās a good thing or not.ā

few things could calm down josie saltzmanās nerves like taking charge of the kitchens. sixteen months, there was a gap of sixteen whole months missing from her life and clearly time had passed because seasons had gone and went and she had found newspapers which indicated it had happened. but, josie didnāt remember any of it, not a single thing. but others seemed to remember her sixteen months ago, power hungry and selfish in every way and josie stirred the cake batter she had made angrily as she thought back on it, as she thought of the way everyone kept looking at her now - like they needed to be afraid of her. the motions soon caused her to knock the bowl over, batter spilling onto her front and the floor and josie jumped back,Ā ādamn it!ā she swore.
The werewolf was just on his way to the kitchen when he heard the bowl topple over and Josie exclaim in frustration. For a second, he hesitated whether he should even approach her. In the end, he sighed and stepped into the kitchen. Xavy reached for the stand-mixer on one of the cupboards and placed it on the counter in front of her.Ā āWe have this you know?ā He wasnāt about to offer his help cleaning up her mess. What he did instead was push the rag that was already on the table closer to her. From what he remembers, Josie Saltzman seemed pretty capable on her own. Very capable in fact. Xavy was certain that he was wary of her just like everybody else in the school and yet somehow, text messages that he had uncovered on his phone proved otherwise.
where: On the Roof of the Old Mill
who: Xavy and Hope ( @mysticmikaelson )
To Xavy, he has only been to the top of the roof of the old mill a few times. But as he stood there now, it was evident that he has visited a lot more often since then. Even if he couldnāt remember the past sixteenth months, he could see how the place has changed since he last remembered it. The roof was no longer littered with dried leaves and twigs. Theyāve all been swept aside along with other possible debris that found its way on the roof. A certain area looked particularly cleaner than the rest. Xavy was certain that it was the very spot he last sat on.
With a grunt, he sat down on the roof and looked at the forest around him. It was weird. Even the forest looked different. No one ever notices the plants around them growing. Even if they were constantly reaching for the sky, no one notices since it happens just too slow. But now that they were practically yanked into the future, it was clear to Xavy that the trees were different. Weird. It all felt both strange and familiar at the same time.
Xavy didnāt know how long he had been staring at nothing in particular when his ears picked up the sound of leaves crunching as they were stepped on. Someoneās coming. His eyes dropped down to see Hope approaching. Xavy smiled although he wondered if Hope could see it from down there. He tilted his head as an invitation for her to come up.
The campus was quiet now, the hour too late for any of the youngest kids to be out and about and most of the teens were hidden away in their rooms. It was nice, if not a little boring. So heād ventured out for a run, and then showered, and then he was practically starving so, kitchens it was. Hearing the door of said kitchen swing open, Jamie froze with knife in hand, about to slice the quesadilla heād made into pieces. There was a momentary flash of panic at being caught so late or being ratted out to various authority figures, before he remembered he sort of was an authority figure now. Well shit, he had to play it cool, then.Ā āHey, kinda late and all. You need something?ā
Xavyās eyes went to the quesadilla and then to the teaching assistant.Ā āJust like you it seems. I was just hungry.ā Truth be told, Xavy was coming fown from a high. The weed that he found in his drawers which he supposed was his was proving to be quite useful.Ā But even with its effects already starting to wear off, he still had the munchies. āIām not going to be in trouble, arenāt I?ā Xavy was no snitch but heās not above pointing out that vampires were basically free to grab blood bags whenever they want. Why canāt the werewolves come down for a little midnight snack?Ā
āawesome,ā Ā ethan mumbled under his breath. Ā his thumb was sliding through his phone, mindlessly scrolling to keep himself from going off the deep end. Ā ānice to know ric didnāt bother to update the wifi in the past year.ā Ā he was still trying to make sense of it all. Ā the not knowing frustrated him to no end, but ethan was doing what he did best: Ā deflect with humor. Ā āhey.Ā any idea who this is?ā Ā he asked the nearest student, pointing to the other person in a selfie on his phone.
Xavier looked up to see what Ethan was showing him.Ā āI have no clue, man. If you donāt remember meeting them then I probably donāt know them too.ā He looked at the selfie again. It looked so ordinary. As if it belonged perfectly on the phone and yet it was also a reminder that everyone around them lost an entire year of memories.
Wait... A reminder...
Xavier palmed his own forehead for not thinking about it earlier. He whipped out his own phone and started looking though it.Ā āWhat else have you found on your phone? Maybe thereās something that could help you figure out what happened for you?ā
(aron piper, cismale, he/him) smoking a joint alone on top of church bell tower, hating the sound of your voice, sitting on the edge of his bed while a friend leans on the doorframe, waiting for him to come out; ā ā¾ welcome to the salvatore school, XAVIER MEYER. i hope youāre ready for a memorable school year with the WEREWOLF faction. at only 19/19, itās easy to be BROODING and PASSIVE, but i hear you can be ASTUTE and LEVEL-HEADED. (marcel, 23, gmt + 8, he/him)
tw: drug use, death mention
Xavier is an only child but he was born into a huge extended family. His father had four other siblings while his mother had eight other siblings. It would take him many pairs of hands to count all of his cousins using fingers.
The irony was that it made him all the more lonely. Everyone else had siblings they went home with after family reunions. Xavier had his parents who loved him but with their busy lives, they barely have the time for him.
His family were devout Catholics. But they rarely practiced as a family due to their demanding occupations. Still, his parents claimed that they had faith and they believed that Xavier shared it with them although he would personally say that he was an agnostic.
For most of his life, Xavier went to Catholic boarding schools. It was more convenient, his parents said. They could afford it anyway.
There he learned about the saints and the scripture. He went to mass with his classmates during Sundays. Xavier went through the motions but his heart was never in it.Ā
It was a slippery slope, how he started using drugs. A certain bad influence made his way into his radar. He was bored, lonely, and rich. He was the perfect candidate.
One day, both Xavier and a friend got a hold of harder drugs that were still āexperimentalā. Xavier ended up chickening out and giving his friend his share. His friend ingested both, causing them to overdose.Ā
Ā After that incident, Xavier was always angry. He would always get into trouble. He was lucky that his parents didnāt think that he was possessed like what happened to some of the students with religious parents. They just simply thought that their boy lost his way.
When he was recruited, Xavier begged them not to tell his parents the truth. He will gladly go and convince his parents to let him, theyād be willing to send him away anyway. He just needed help convincing.Ā
Now, Xavier is a frequent customer of the campus dealer. He will smoke a joint with you but that doesnāt immediately mean that your friends.
During parties in the woods, Xavier could always be found with a drink in his hands, sitting alone on the highest place that he could find.Ā
Xavier is more of a loner, which is hard for him since heās part of a pack now. If there were Omega werewolves, heād be one.Ā
NOW: Xavier woke up shirtless on his own bed, not remembering anything from last year. To him, heās only been in the Salvatore School for six months. He didnāt particularly know what the missing year means and like everybody else, mementos around his room, barely painted the picture of the missing year. Unlike the others, he didnāt have any social media accounts to look through. He didnāt have a bunch of text messages either. Although one or two did intrigue him. But heās keeping those secret for now.
