in all the discourse a while back of "why would you read homestuck it's racist and evil" vs "homestuck is a revolutionary trans work and it's evil to attack it", nobody thought huh it's actually interesting to think about how homestuck really is anchored in that 2000s culture of then-closeted white autistic queer/trans teens who felt isolated from their peers without any words for it but were ignorant of/fine with how utterly racist online spaces were even long before mass adoption of the internet. like there's some genuine lessons to be learned there as a snapshot of that culture and how many white queer/trans people over 30 who first grew up online still refuse to reckon with how hostile our supposedly safe online spaces were to anybody who wasn't lily white. how many closeted queer/trans people of colour who also sought refuge online had to take slap after slap after slap to the face whatever they did. today the racism is still baked in the leftover remains of these spaces—tumblr is one of them for sure—but in a more subtle way where people can use the right language etc but still treat black people online with deep hostility and suspicion and hold them to impossibly high standards lol

i don’t think i’m exaggerating when i say that the average height for women in the US would increase by at least an inch if teen girls were allowed to eat as much as teen boys are

and not to bring my own clocky bitch ass into this but if cis women weren’t so consistently starved their entire lives you’d see a lot more cis women with the kind of bodies that we currently associate closely with trans women. the amount that the standards of feminine presentation are culturally defined by malnutrition is crazy
