Even if Guerrero was not "legally" within the United States, this never should have happened. The claims made by ICE that Guerrero "weaponized" his car against officers are easily questioned by viewing security footage and reading eyewitness accounts here.

Biddeford is across the river from my hometown of Saco, and the intersection where the shooting happened is one that many of us who are local are familiar with. I crossed Pool and Hill when I was going to the University of New England as a student, apprentice to the archivist in the special collections, and to visit a family member who worked there. I would go through the intersection to visit friends, go to work, or go for a walk around Timber Point or Clifford Park.

This shooting came less than a week after the killing of Lorenzo Araujo (4) on Canal St. in Houston, Texas. Guerrero was Colombian, 25 years old, and is survived by his wife and 3-year-old daughter. I no longer live in Maine, but I urge those of you who do to attend any protests you can, like the one in Portland yesterday, and fight for the removal of Susan Collins in the upcoming election (as much as voting helps.)
