People recreationally lying on tumblr is like a misinformation vaccine.
You're exposed to false information that's presented as if it's true, but which has been rendered harmless by being something absurd and utterly ridiculous, and even if you do catch something from it, the response is getting ridiculed on the internet instead of getting sucked into a cult. So the next time you encounter something that sounds absolutely mindblowing, some part of your mind remembers to check the sources, because you're not going to repeat the purple-eyes-no-periods mistake again.

I just want to make a small rant: I love that the antis are going back to the 'how dare you fetishize mlm' thing again, they'd taken a little break on it for a few years. As a gay man, I love seeing these supposedly inclusive and 'protector' puritans tell me that my very existence and any relationship I have (fictional or IRL) is not a real relationship, but a sick fetish. Bit of a tangent incoming:
It's good Nonny said that (especially as a gay guy) - since it was also gay guys who kicked off the whole debate years back by complaining about "straight women fetishizing their sexuality". Like, posts going around roughly 2013-ish by gay men were the first time I encountered that specific argument, and back then I fell for it hook, line, and sinker.
What I'm trying to say here is that:
A: No individual should automatically be treated as an ambassador of an entire group. Opinions about issues will vary widely within that group and this is normal.
B: Listening to minorities is good, but listening to anyone belonging to a minority uncritically and without reflection is not.
C: The asshole factor is the same no matter what group you're looking at. Belonging to a minority doesn't automatically make someone Always Correct About Everything or free of prejudice concerning other marginalized groups. (I see lots of people struggling with this online.)
Anyway, I would like to thank Nonny for speaking out about this, as a fellow queer person, I agree with you completely. Even if some slash fanfics will have homophobic undertones (usually because the writers are very young and grew up in a heteronormative society so they had no chance to unlearn some things yet), it's still better they exist than an entire community being completely othered by declaring writing about them at all something fetishistic.
also a gay guy here, mlm fa fiction lover, supporter of fujin and I want to add that even a portion of what antis consider homophobic undertones is the writer (knowingly or not) exploring stereotypes, gender, sexuality, etc is a productive and hot way. Not that there isnt ever underlying homophobia in fanfiction, but that would still be true if mlm fics were written exclusively by gay men too.
I think the most I've found a fic to irritate me in a way I would call homophobic were times where the writer seemed to be patting themselves on the back for not making either character a top or bottom because said characters "saw themselves as equals" and we're switches for ideological reasons lol.
Real talk? As a gay man I don't care when straight people like MLM ships or write or draw them.
I DO however care when they turn it into grandstanding and act like gay ships are the only "good" ships and treated straight people/ships like shit in an attempt to seem more ✨~inclusive~✨ buddy you are not fooling anyone with that you're just a piece of shit.

teaching yourself how to deal with mildly annoying inconveniences is imo an essential part of treating the disabled people around you with compassion and no i'm not kidding
sometimes you have to share a public space with someone who has loud verbal tics. sometimes a chronically ill friend will have to cancel plans because of a flare up even if you were really looking forward to hanging out with them. sometimes an autistic person will talk over you or interrupt you because they missed a particular cue. sometimes people who struggle to take care of themselves will smell bad. sometimes people with intellectual disabilities will need you to give them more detailed, patient instructions, even if it seems simple to you. sometimes you will need to give up your seat on the bus for a physically disabled person even if you don't want to move.
accommodating disabled people is not always easy or comfortable; being an ally means doing it anyway.
