guess I’m just gonna sit here and miss one direction for the rest of my life

actually I want to write an essay about how all the one direction members have been essentially forced by public expectation to verbalize their grief on social media only a day after liam’s death & then some of them (namely harry! lol) being scrutinized for their posts seeming ’calculated’ / ’written by PR’ / not ’genuine enough’. like. so what if they are? Imagine your childhood best friend dies and millions of people are waiting for you to say something that helps them deal with their parasocial grief. and then that very fame & loss of privacy being the thing that you all went through together as essentially children & the repercussions of that likely being a contributing factor to your friend’s death. the cycle. anyway. none of them owe us shit

child stars dying young directly or indirectly as a result of fame-related trauma is just so especially sad. for me it’s the tragedy of how kids don’t really know what they’re signing up for when they ask to be famous, especially back in 2008. liam’s mistakes, addiction, and bad decisions, are all so inarguably tied into his career and the carelessness of the entertainment industry. the 31 year old man that just died is the same 16yo boy that was given drugs and alcohol to keep him quiet while he was being overworked and exploited. corey haim, river phoenix, judy garland, and so many more. you can think what you want about liam and have your own opinions, but don’t lose sight of the larger picture that he was a victim of.

no but I'm genuinely so thankful for the people here, the community here. people who understand the grief, the anger, the devastation. even when I've been unable to find the words to say, just seeing someone say exactly what I'm feeling and others sharing it, like yeah they understand. they know it too. they're feeling it too. i really don't know how I would've coped without you people here.

it is all the love to all of the boys, of course it is, but i think we all understand why it's sending special love to louis because i just can't wrap my head around going through so much pain again and again and again. and i know he will be coming out of this even stronger, but at some point you've got to ask yourself how much one single person can take

This may sound silly but with every new tribute to Liam, the fact that hes gone becomes more real and I cant handle it

seeing so many people who haven’t been here for a while . we’re all family and will always be . what we got to experience is rare and precious . hope time will allow us to look back at it with joy and peace again . hugging all of you tight

I never thought the next thing the One Direction Instagram account was going to post was a statement about Liam’s passing. We all wanted them to post about all 5 boys being on stage again, releasing music again, just having fun and being together again…it wasn’t meant to be.
