I had no idea who Zoë Kravitz was before this whole thing started. That's not a dig at her—it's just true, and it matters for context. She has a name in Hollywood. Her dad is Lenny Kravitz, her mom is Lisa Bonet—she grew up with connections and a built-in level of fame. Whether people talk about her for good or bad (and from what I've seen, read and learned, it’s definitely the latter), she is known in those circles.

The idea behind pairing her with Harry makes sense on paper. Take one of the most talked-about, in-demand male pop stars in the world who was gone for 3 years, put him next to a Hollywood name, and you're going to get a lot of coverage. For both of them. At the same time.

On paper—sure. In real life, both teams went way too far with it.

The Timing Was Not a Coincidence

Every PR relationship has a goal. There's always a movie, a project, or a press moment that it's meant to help. This one started in August—right during the promotion of her film, which wasn't doing great in theaters. A big splashy "romance" with Harry Styles puts her name in every entertainment article for weeks. That's exactly what a struggling press run needs.

On his side, the timing lined up with him needing to get back on people's radar after almost three years away. He needed to be visible again before the album era started. A tabloid relationship is one of the oldest tricks in the celebrity handbook for that exact reason.

Both teams needed something at the same time. That's not a coincidence. It never is.

The Pap Walks Were a Dead Giveaway

In a real relationship, that takes years to play out publicly. In Harry’s case, we will never know when he’s in a real relationship, engaged, married, has kids…In a PR arrangement, it gets compressed because the goal is to get as many headlines as possible before the window closes. The more dramatic the story, the more clicks. The more clicks, the more it "works." Even bad PR is good PR because people are still talking. Names are still in headlines.

The fact that the two teams sometimes (especially recently) seem to be telling slightly different stories—like they're not fully on the same page—is also interesting. Real couples have one story. We went a full month without a real confirmed sighting of them together. One whole month, during what should have been an active period of this was all real. I genuinely think that was planned and negotiated—a built-in break, so it was fully focused on Harry and KISSCO.

He Keeps Saying the Album Isn't About Her

One of the clearest signs that this whole thing wasn't what it was being sold as is the fact that he has said more than once that the album was finished before any of this started—and that it's not about her.

1.) She gets a mainstream spotlight and gets to be seen as a big Hollywood player rather than just a famous person's kid. Being linked to Harry gives her a level of visibility she hasn't been getting on her own lately.

2.) He gets to be in the news every day without having to do interviews, answer questions, or actually be open about anything—all things he famously avoids when he can. We’ve, and I know I have, all said if he could make music and only perform for his job, he would do it in a heartbeat.

3.) Engagement and marriage rumors popping up in big outlets within days of one another is not real reporting. It's a way to keep the story escalating and get more clicks from people who are emotionally invested.

4.) When real celebrity couples get engaged, it usually comes out in one announcement (I’m not a huge TS fan, but she made the announcement)— it’s not a slow drip of "sources" teasing it for weeks. The slow drip is a PR move.

5.) Every set of photos from this "relationship" looks weirdly polished. Even some of the “organic” photos. Clear faces, good angles, everyone seems aware of the camera. Real paparazzi photos of celebrities who aren't calling the paps are usually blurrier, more chaotic, and a lot less flattering.

6.) The fans who have been around for years—the ones who have spent a long time learning how he talks, how he moves, what he actually says—called this almost immediately and almost all at once. That means something.

7.) PR campaigns aren't made for people who are already paying close attention. They're made for the general public, who will take the story at face value. His team clearly built this for casual audiences. That's a bit of a slap in the face to the people who have been here since the beginning.

8.) Not a single person in his real fanbase got anything good out of this. It didn't make me want to watch her movies. It didn't make me more excited for him. If anything, it made me more tired of the whole machine. I will still support, love and respect him. I listen to the album everyday, but you add the stunt on top of all the backlash, it’s a lot. It’s tiring.
