The growing #ComeBlockHome and its twin hashtag, #MC2012Reunion is gaining traction among fans, so what exactly is it about?
If youāve been a fan of Minecraft Youtube (MCYT) for some time, you may be familiar with various creators that have been labeled with the fan-name of UnderYogs. These are people who were either associated with, or parallel to the Yogscast but not in the spotlight. Many of these people have moved on with their lives, doing their own thing after a decade. In the fanbase there has been a push as of late to get some of these creators back together for a Minecraft SMP.
A big push was when noted underyog Lyinginbedmon made a tweet, tagging several of the others [link to tweet]. This caused a huge stir in the fan community, and at least three of the creators showed an interest in participation. Lying tweeted again not long after [link to tweet], and the fan community responded with excitement again.
A lot of the reblogs of the various related posts have hashtags expressing similar sentiments of wanting this to happen. And you know what? It absolutely can happen.
The catch here is that the Fans need to be the ones to spearhead it.Ā
The concept came up again during Strifeās stream, and he went into detail about what fans can do to get this moving. Thanks to a dedicated fan, the relevant clips from that stream can be seen here [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]
For those whom need text, hereās what you can do:
1. LET THEM KNOW If these creators donāt know you want them to do something together, they never will. You have to get out there and tell them that you love their content and want to see them in an SMP event. If this can be done EN MASSE, with as much of the fanbase as possible, chances of this happening increase. 2. USE HASHTAGS This is where the #ComeBlockHome and #MC2012Reunion tags come in. Unifying your voices is vital to this process! Anything you contribute should use these tags so itās a convenient one-click option for the creators to see how far support for this event goes. That being said, using them in the right place matters just as much. Itās useful to do behind-the-scenes organizing on Tumblr, but the aspect of reaching out to the creators should be done where most of them reside these days: on Twitter. Using both of these social media sites will be great for that. 3. THE CAMPAIGN As Strife said in his stream, extended campaigns are fine. But what is really going to get through to both creators and fans is one large, rallying cry. Be big and be noisy, but do it together. Organize through Tumblr to get the word out, and then take to Twitter for the campaign proper. 4. DO THE THING The strength of this movement comes down to the number of fans involved. If you want this to happen, SHOW UP and SHOW THEM what they and this potential SMP means to you. There are several things you can do, including: Ā Ā Ā a) blog/tweet/reblog/retweet with hashtags Ā Ā Ā b) reaching out to creators by @ tagging them with above Ā Ā Ā c) create fan works/fan content, again with a and b above Ā Ā Ā d) memes are a great option too!
Any additional thoughts, ideas, and comments are welcome!
So far we can confirm that Lyinginbedmon, KirinDave, and William Strife are on board. Who else can you get to join?
