This is a really rude post. Remember you’re talking about Dylan Marron’s actual voice. He reads Tumblr sometimes.
Also, his voice isn’t whiny at all, wtf. You’re being downright mean. Don’t be mean.
Actually, I’ve always thought that all the Carlos voices (there have been a few different voice actors for him over the years) have that distinct sound, and i’ve always figured it was their way of saying “Cecil sees him this way because he loves Carlos and everything about him is perfect” even though many things about Carlos, including his voice, are just quite average. And i’m talking about Carlos’s very first speaking part on the show, right after Cecil made a big deal of calling his voice “deep and oaky” when there’s no question that that’s not entirely true. They were trying to show us that Cecil sees many average things about Carlos as extraordinary and perfect. My post was just saying that i love that about Cecil.
Also, the actors are adults. You don’t have to be overly sensitive on their behalf. There was nothing “downright mean” about it. Chill.
You perceiving the voices as squeaky or whiny =/= the actors meaning to do the voices that way.
That’s Dylan Marron’s actual voice, and it’s Jeffrey Cranor’s actual voice. Dylan has mentioned that he was very sensitive about his voice growing up. He might still be sensitive about it.
Also, Carlos is described as handsome by Old Woman Josie, Lauren, and now Jackie in the novel. So probably Cecil does see him as idealized, but others find him handsome too, in canon. I don’t know how that works re: the voice, but I don’t think Dylan is particularly doing a “squeaky” version of himself.

Nothing wrong with being kind. The actors are kind to the fans, we should be kind to them too.

(Is this for the anti-honesty hour thing? I’m just gonna assume it is)
Ugh, I hate those nerds. They’re so annoying and problematic. Why can’t they be miserable and fight all the time like every other fictional couple? I can’t stand them. Especially Carlos, he was so much better when he didn’t have any personality whatsoever.

I need your help. I only started listening to the podcast at the beginning of last week, but I’m 42 episodes in and I still have no clue why Cecil is so often depicted with a third eye and tattoos? On the wiki, all it says is that he is not short or tall, fat or thin. So where do the third eye and tattoos come from? Does it come in a later episode I haven’t heard yet…? Or… what?

P.S. When I started listening, an invisible creature came to hide in my cellar, when will it go away?
It was just something fans made up at some point, and then others started to emulate it. I’m thinking one fan came up with the tattoos, another with the tentacles, and third one with the third eye, but I’m not sure. This was very early on in the fandom.
I think it would be fun if fans tried to break away from this model, both in fan art and cosplay. These features were once fresh and different, but in two years, they’ve become boring.
PS. Shhh do not acknowledge or talk about the invisible creature. It will never leave, but it might turn visible after a while.

He remains a bit mysterious IMO. For instance, we never find out his real name.
