To capture the dark sports romance/erotica vibes that the author put into the cover design I had a very specific idea of the details I wanted to convey. Specifically, I wanted it to be a flexible flexibound cover with bookcloth that has the design printed on it, plus white opal HTV

However, a couple of problems arose when I tried to execute this design. The grain on the thin chipboard was in the wrong direction leading to the book not wanting to stay closed, the bookcloth I chose was pretty unforgiving when it came to glue stains, and the spine ended up a little uneven. And since this was supposed to be the authors copy, this would not do! So I tried again using methods i was more familiar in lol

The first book in the pictures is the final copy for the author. I used regular hardcover binding with soft touch laminated poster paper as the cover and omfg, it feels soo nice and velvety. This one turned out so CLEAN and im so excited to send this to her!

The second book in the photos is now my version! Imperfect but totally charming in its quirkiness imo. Im actually very happy im keeping this one because it screams handmade in the best way. I also used green hemp cord for the actual binding of the pages for both books so it adds a cute little flair on the inside as well. I also added a video showing off the pink shine of the opal HTV for my version, its a really nice touch!
