ALSO the tendency of the justice system to convict women (especially women of color) on murder charges for killing (including in clear self-defense) men who are actively abusing them. plus anecdotally as someone who works adjacent to the criminal justice system my feeling is that what gets categorized as a ‘violent’ crime is not race or class-neutral. Someone else may have more scholarly or researched things to say about that–I just haven’t seen any that I clearly remember so yeah ‘restorative justice but only for nonviolent prisoners’ is a Bad Take that I think is inconsistent with the foundational theoretical and ethical underpinnings of restorative justice AND also who gets convicted of and what is considered ‘violent’ crime should be considered within the context of systemic racism, misogyny, etc.

I really really wish I was a cat, I’m not built for this capatalist society but I am built for sleeping 19 hours a day and knocking things over
