Had to share this one.

This is my friend Wompa’s 97-year-old father trying out the Oculus Rift for the first time. His reaction is charming and wonderful and just makes me smile so much. I had the good fortune of enjoying this man’s company in the past and I’m so happy to see that he’s hardly changed as the years have passed.

Well, I’ve got some time, so I guess now is a good moment to write about this.

So earlier this week at my school (Sinclair Community College), a campus organization called the Traditional Values Club invited a speaker, Peter LaBarbera (a class A piece of shit [homophobia trigger warnings for the links]) to give a talk entitled What “Gay” Activists Don’t Want You To Know. You may have noticed the quotes around the word “gay.” He does this literally every single time he ever writes out the word, because he’s of the belief that homosexuality is a curable malady, and therefore not really a thing. Yeah. Like I said. Class. A. Piece. Of shit.

Have you ever seen a little girl run so fast she falls down? There’s an instant, a fraction of a second before the world catches hold of her again…a moment when she’s outrun ever doubt and fear she’s ever had about herself and flies. In that one moment, every little girl flies.
