My fic, in collaboration with the wonderful @physalislantern for this year's @sterekreversechallenges quickie event. Fun fact: I wrote a significant portion of this (pretty much all of the spicy bits, in fact) on a plane with the redacted font on, because sometimes a writer with a deadline has to do what they have to do!
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Excerpt:
This is a stupid idea.
Derek had been hoping that nobody would be home, so he could just slip in and out again unnoticed, but of course that had been too much to wish for. There's only one familiar heartbeat inside — which is a small mercy — and there's light shining through the gaps in the curtains that are drawn haphazardly across the bedroom window.
He never closes them properly.
Derek doesn't know why he knows this.
The phantom scent of chlorine is still sharp in his nose, despite the fact that he's showered and changed since the whole pool debacle, and the weight of a waterlogged phone is all but burning a hole in his pocket.
It's been a confusing night.
By now, Derek is used to almost dying. He's used to people trying to kill him. He's used to people only keeping him around until his use has been worn out.
He's not used to people trying to save him.
He's even less used to the one doing the saving being a human. A weak, defenseless, scrawny little human, who can't seem to help getting himself tangled up in danger at every turn, because his insane response to discovering the supernatural was a decision to run with wolves.
Though, as it turns out, he's not that weak or defenseless after all.
Derek knows his name, and it's probably about time he stopped pretending otherwise.
