there's glass between us

got stuck in a hot elevator for all of ~60 seconds and did immediately grapple with an unfolding spectre of cosmic horror.

Update: we went back there after a bit and the caution barrier is now gone but the elevator still doesn't respond when the button is pressed??? We were gone for an hour, maybe two, at night. Who removed the barrier....

worth noting that we only know the button doesn't work bc when we entered the lobby, i saw that the signs had been taken down, & i was like "oh hey, maintenance must have come! let's try getting back in the swamp-hot physics-defying elevator :)"

big fan of the listless dissociated look that whumpees have after something that causes incredible pain (whether emotional or physical just a Lot of it) - when their eyes are focused on nothing and their mouth is a little open and maybe they're covered in blood and they're limp and just move with whoever is pulling them up rather than actually using any of their own strength. when blinking is the only acknowledgement they can give that they can even hear or understand what's going on. when they aren't even crying because that would take too much energy. they're just... tired. empty. dazed. yeah. big fan

UNPOPULAR OPINION: A lot of "mental health issues" disappear when bills are paid, rent is secure, and the fridge is full. Peace is expensive. And pretending money doesn't affect mental health is privilege.
