On 5 September, 2017, in Ivanteyevka, Moscow in Russia, Mikhail Pivnev, a ninth-grader, showed up to school in a trenchcoat with smoke bombs and a pneumatic pistol. He scattered smoke bombs around the classroom and opened fire. Whilst opening fire, Mikhail said that he had waited for this for three years. Online, he liked to use the surname “Klebold” and had always been fascinated by the Columbine massacre and had developed quite an obsession with Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. According to sources, Mikhail had previously visited a psychiatrist because of his suicidal thoughts. Four people have since been hospitalized, including a teacher that is in critical condition. It is likely that Mikhail’s friend knew about the upcoming crime as she posted a production video of the shooting of a teacher online, but it was deleted after the incident.
