The late Anne Marie Hochhalter with Celine Dion and others.
On October 1st, 1999, Celine Dion dedicated a concert of hers, performed at Pepsi Center, to those affected by the Columbine shooting.
Celine—along with a group of children wearing shirts that read We Are Columbine—sang her hit “Let's Talk About Love” for 20,000 people.
“You know, we do a lot of shows, but this show has a different feeling, It means something different for us, for all of us,” Celine said to the crowd, after asking them to be serious. “Your pain and suffering was felt around the world.”
Speaking directly to the row of survivors and their families up front, as well as the families of some of the students who were killed, she then added, “Everyone grieved with you, everyone prayed for you, everyone wanted to comfort you and everyone cared, and they still do.”
During a performance of “Columbine, Friend of Mine” by two former students, white roses were passed out to guests from Columbine.
Unbeknownst to the attendees, Celine donated the hundreds of thousands of dollars that were made that night to the victims' relief effort.
