hi hello. i would like to make a statement about this post. at first i was about to smash the reblog button at the speed of light, but then i thought about it and waited and yes, they can be good people. it may not be that they hate gay/lesbian/bi/pan/etc just because they think its “wrong” or “disgusting,” but rather theyre just not quite sure of people having different sexual orientations. they might not know how to interact with them. they might not understand them. but that can change. yes, of course there are homophobic people that we feel like banishing into the void, but there are some that are willing to try and change because they dont want to be uncaring towards people of the lgbt community. they want to give them a chance because its unfair or dumb to dislike them or be uncomfortable around them just because they dont like the opposite sex like “normal people” were supposed to. my mom was probably horrified, confused or upset when my older sister came out to be lesbian, because shes christian and so is my dad. but im sure that she learned to accept that and to support my sister. i came out to her too (that was a year ago tho, so back then i was a lesbian, guess i gotta let her know im bi now lol), and she wasnt surprised at all, just kinda gave me an affirmation that she understood what i had just told her and continued doing whatever she was doing before homophobic people can change. whether they want to or not, is entirely up to them, but the ones who WANT and are WILLING to change a viewpoint that they probably had for their entire lives? now THAT is real dedication. those are the ones that REALLY deserve a chance. those are the ones that dont deserve any hate or rejection from those of the lgbt community or supporters of lgbt.
