“No, I don’t want to work on that assignment, it’s a complete waste of time and everybody knows it.”

[ he’s sprawled on the ground, passed out,  bleeding from multiple injuries, in the middle of the cross country route he’d been running. ]

“Well good, because I have no idea where the hell we’re actually headed.”

“Not everybody has the luxury involved in thinking about where they’ll be in twenty years, some people just live day to day, week to week, and that’s how it is.” Maybe he was being more honest than usual, but it’s not like it could hurt to talk for a bit.

          “I’m getting by, isn’t that good enough?”

“Y’know, I wouldn’t have to keep showing up in  random places if you could actually call me back. That’s, assuming I still have the right number?”

“I worry because I care about you Ethan, you know that. I care that you don’t feel like this is a big thing, because it’s something you shouldn’t have to experience, ever. I love you babe and I’m always going to care and try to help.”
