"Red"
If you asked me what my favorite color was when I was younger, I would have said brown.
Why brown though?
Brown is the color I associate with the dirt. Brown is my favorite flowers home; where they saved me. Brown is how I would make 'pies' when I was outside and hungry. Brown is in the woods where I felt free. Brown was that solid and strong object that was the home for birds and squirrels; I once considered it my home one day. Brown WAS my favorite color.
If you asked me what my favorite color was when i was in my teen, I would have said red.
Why red though?
Red was the color I saw when I felt like my life was meaningless; an escape from my emotional pain. Red was the color of my knuckles when I thought I found meaning. Red was the color I saw when rage and pain took over; causing me to win. Red is the color that saved my life; but killed another's. Red is the glowing exit sign that I will never see again, showing my choice to a different and better path. Even after that, red IS my favorite color.
If you asked me what my favorite color is now, I would say red BUT as well as many other colors.
Why still red and why many other colors when the question was for your favorite?
Red is the color that saved my life. Red is the color of my favorite flower; believing I have power and strength. Red and orange is the color of the leaves during my favorite season; the exact thing they do. Brown is the color of the leaves when they have been down for too long. Purple is the color I associate my soul mate with; yellow is the color of one of her favorite flowers. Green is the color of new growth in the world I live in. White and black is what I see when I look up to when I feel so small. Pink is the feeling of feelings and happiness for a new beginning. Blue are the birds and butterflies coming back home after winter.
Colors are the world we live in. Even in the darkness, you can always follow the light.
