Ramble: As I've gotten older and my maturity has grown, I can finally say that I understand why Abby killed Joel. For years I hated her for it and refused to see things from her persepective because I loved Joel so much, but now I get it. If someone murdered a person I loved, I would want revenge too. That's what makes the story so powerful, Ellie and Abby are really two sides of the same coin, both driven by grief, loss, and the need for vengence. Abby saw Joel as the man who killed her father, just as Ellie saw Abby as the person who took Joel from her. I still love Joel, and his death is one of the reasons I struggle to watch that part of the game, but after five years I can finally appreciate what the story was trying to show. I don't necessarily agree with Abby's actions, but I understand them now, and that understanding has completely changed how I view her character.
